Will you make a tutorial on how to modify original Realistic Microphones to work with your kit? I know of several people, and myself, who would love to do this!
Definitely, I have a set waiting at home for it.
Thanks!
Jay
I think it’s just a case of cutting a bit of plastic away from the ears to make them work.
Btw, how do you make it work/ turn it on when the motor/lights are installed? Is there a toggle switch or button??
I have an opening at the back of the giga for a switch and a LED light. It’s up to the electronics maker to sort that out.
Got mine today! So satisfying, after owning the microphones for about three years now.

Loved the way it was packaged, too, wrapped up in the plastic so you can see how it will all look.

what a hellish week of work… i came home today to something ive been waiting for since 1989. the gigameter has been my holy grail of GB props. i attempted to make a replica out of wood when i was 15 years old. i used a old saturn5 dome with lights inside and real mics. i used the plans from viper from back in the day (cylandprops today) it was alright, but was never what i wanted. i wanted the real deal
there was a few threads on here with guys attempting to do runs, but the gigameter being so complex they never came through. i slowly watch throwingchicken on facebook modifying a shoe polisher and make a gigameter and was glued all over the pictures. i never knew he planed on doing a run until he ordered domes, and showed a picture of like 30 domes… thats when i PMed him and he said he was going all out and doing a run
my heart sank, i prayed i could get in on this, this is it! the gigameter 1:1 scale, perfect! something i could never achieve myself, and he was doing a run. i patiently waited and watched every update, and when he posted the working dome and moving ears!! something only 1 or 2 have accomplished i nearly died. i still couldnt believe this was going to happen… i have wanted this since i was a kid.. 5 years old watching the VHS and rewinding it over and over and over at the “2.5GEV’s on the gigameter” scene…
when the run was announced i was about 15 hours late, my work schedule is very hectic.. our cellphones arent allowed on the job site, and sometimes we are working on high raise buildings, where it takes 35 minutes to walk down all the flights of stairs and then back up.. so lunch breaks arent even worth going to check on ur phone because you might as well eat your sandwich while going down the stairs because the hike burns the lunch break.. (which ive done a few times to check on run updates or feed the meters) i was 15 hours late and sick to my stomach, i contacted throwingchicken and he told me i was good… thank god! if i missed this run i dont know what i would have done!
today i came home to history… i had a big box on the kitchen table and KNEW it had to be it, this has to be the gigameter i have waited for for 26 years… this couldnt be true.
i opened her up, and slowly peaked inside to see this

i couldnt believe it, my hands were shaking, and my nose started running, my eyes began to water I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS!! its sitting right there in front of me! what i have always wanted and dreamed of!!
i want to take this time to personally thank everyone who was involved in doing this run, you have no idea what this means to me. some people may take this as over reacting, or sucking up but its not. this was a dream of mine, a dream you figure will never come true. and thanks to throwningchicken, my dream has come true! i now own a gigameter, something i thought could never happen… thank you all so very very much and thank you throwingchicken for providing an AMAZING product! you have an amazing talent, im blow away by everything, this means the world to me and im eternally greatful

Sweet!
So silly question… how did people get over the cage hurdle? Any ideas or recommendations?
Are any of these kits still available for purchase?
Hey Halliwax, I see youve got one of Anakin Starkiller’s Luke V2 sabers sitting there…me too.
Goodale - I was just extremely careful and took my time w/the cage and had no problems.
Sent payment and am now awaiting my kit. Thank you TC and for anybody looking for kits TC does incredible work!
interested once there is an electronics kit available
PM sent!
Any news or updates on electronics? Heavy Props?
Has anybody starting drilling the pilot holes for the screws? What size bits did you use? Did you tap the holes or just drill a hole smaller than the screws?
Thanks for that video, Alex.
I’ve got a few leftovers from December to fill, then I can take more orders.
Jason, most of the holes you can use a 1/8" bit. For the smaller screws to hold down the instrument panel, you’d want 7/64". I don’t bother tapping anything, but if you feel the need then go for it.
Thanks a lot TC
Damn, I had no idea this kit was ready, you will be getting some of my tax money sir in the coming weeks. I cannot wait to work on this
