Are there any tutorials on adding the extra padding in the pack straps? For those of you who’ve done it, was it hard?
Very difficult…it’s even difficult to find the right colour of cordura!!
Looks like a pain to do…
I picked up a OD Nylon BBQ apron that looks damn close to the material used.
Hopefully I can get a tutorial done and posted once I’m done modifying my football pads into a Slime Blower vest.
Sup nerds,
GhostbusterPM and I made a set of these one afternoon…well, he did most of it.
Step 1. Call in a favor from a friend who knows how to sew.
Step 2. Acquire materials.
A. Alice pack straps. In my case LC-2, my set is modeled after Winston’s in the museum sweep scene.
B. Foam padding. We got this from a place in Burbank, CA called Foam Mart.
C. Find greenish material. We found some in the Fabric District in downtown L.A.
Step 3. Cut the padding off of the Alice straps. Then, use it to measure the correct size to cut out of your foam padding. We simply traced around it with a Sharpie.
Step 4. Hover over your friend’s shoulder as they take the foam blocks and measure how much green material is needed to cover them.
Step 5. Watch your friend looks frustrated as they monkey with the sewing machine. Be sure to offer them a beverage.
Step 6. Call your significant other (real or imaginary) and say you’re BOTH working very hard and will be finished soon.
Step 7. Let your friend hand you these…
Step 8. Put them on your pack.
Step 9. Ignore any feelings of shame or guilt, and go out in public dressed like this…
Good tutorial
What a bunch of freakin NERDS!!!
That’s gonna cost you.

Thanks for the pics. Seems like the cordura is a bitch to cut open…
It’s totally not cool to take my picture while I’m praying to the Norse Gods.
Actually, cutting the cordura was quite easy. Just need good scissors.
I have that excact shade of cordura and avoided using it because I think it looks to dark compared to the original straps but in those pictures it actually looks pretty decent.
