How difficult is it to get a ghost trap toy to repaint? And how much do they go for?
It can be hard to find one in good shape and that still works.
Around Halloween if they work and are in good shape around $50 bucks.
I have saw a few go higher than that!
Why do people butcher these?? They’re too small anyway. They are kiddie size after all.
Maybe it’s for my cousin who likes Ghostbsuters and happens to be 10? I dunno just throwing that suggestion out there.
eBay - your greatest friend and your worst enemy.
That’s the place to get a trap from but it’ll cost you and you might begrudge slapping paint over a “toy” that’s cost you the best part of $50. But if that’s what your after good luck on the eBay hunt! and remember to post some pics when you’ve finished it.
I like the RGB trap because it is small. I don’t mind having a smaller trap on my belt, it’s comfortable.
Some people like having the accurate size, but a smaller version is fine with me.
I got my trap on ebay with a lot of other GB toys, and the whole lot cost $50. Unfortunately, the trap mechanism is broken. I’m still trying to figure out a way to repair it.
As was said, a functioning RGB trap will cost you probably around $50. :walterpeck:
And shipping to Canada is expensive! I hate it when sellers charge me double what the US rate would be! :whatever:
Thanks for all the advise guys!
I found my old trap toy in the basement. A little work with a screwdriver (blasted sticker holing it together!) and I was able to diagnose a compromised air tube as the problem. Jammed one end into another, added a little electrical tape to seal and hold it together, and it works good as new. So don’t be afraid to open the sucker and figure out how it’s SUPPOSED to work. It’s a simple pneumatic pop-up thing that levers the doors open. I bet the problem’s with the air tube, that thing is just a major weak spot.
I opened up my trap before, and found a broken plastic “nipple” where the hose attaches to the “pneumatic pop-up thing”. I’m thinking of buying a new “nipple” double-ended sort of thing to stick in the hose and the pneumatic end. Just need to find the time to browse the hardware store and find something that would work.
But thanks Saborlas, maybe I’ll try just rigging it together with tape. I hope mine works as well as yours!
It’s just occurred to me that the practice of holding the trap by the cable may undo tape-fixes. You may wish to get some epoxy involved.
Personally I prefer the looks of the Toy trap then the movie trap.
I also like the fact that they’re wider, while the movie raps are on the taller side.
