Ghostbuster style logo help needed for vehicle graphic

I have started a Paranormal Group called the {BA} Paranormal Group with my fiance,

we have all sorts of wonderful things on our website,

i wont post a link due to not being 100% familiar with the forum rules,

i browsed through them but is 10.22am and ive been up all night on skype with my lady

as we are awaiting her residence visa for the UK as she is from Texas.

I found this great site whilst researching pics and logos to give me inspiration as i am

doing up my van to promote our paranormal group.

I saw a wonderful pic by " lordgilpin "

which is exactly the sort of thing we are looking to put on my van.

I am hoping to be able to speak to him regarding his design.

I have attempted several designs of my own and to be perfectly blunt,

they are rubbish and look like a small child has done them lol

Below are pics of my van when i got in, you cant see the dents and bubbly areas on the panels though

This is the current stage of the van progress

We have got a couple of large chrome spotlights to go above the drivers seat area,

a flashing orange beacon for the roof, twin 600 watt subwoofers and an amp,

we have as of yet not got the alloy wheels to go on the van due to lack of finances.

We dont want to break any copyrites on any logos,

so would appeal for anyone who could design something similar for us to put on the hood of the van,

as we are non profit and just starting out, ( we have been around almost 3 months ) we dont have any

finances available to pay anyone but would be more than willing to give due credit on our website.

I have seen a couple of great designs but again we wouldnt want to break any copyrights as the logo would

go on the hood of the van and on the doors.

these are the designs i love and have seen but have been unable to get in contact with the people who made them

to get permission and wouldnt want to use them without permission.

Love this one by Johnnysparks but would prefer it if the hands were like they are but with fists

This is what i would love on my van, its the same as the pic above by "lordgilpin "with coloured lights on the prongs of the emp machine.

So if i am unable to get permission to use any of the above designs on my van which is to advertise our non profit paranormal group, i would hope that someone may be able to help me design a similar one that i can use on our van and website.

Below is our current banner if that could be improved also to match the logo that would be incredible.

We are on a short time scale as we are hoping to get the stencil ordered for the van on saturday the 11th of August

thats only 6 days to get a design sorted.

If you want to avoid issues with copyright, then you should ditch using the images of Chucky and his bride Tiffany from Child’s Play as those will be copy protected by the studio that produced those films.

yup i agree, which is partly the reason for wanting the new banner which is also our site header,

but having zero skills with the design part im having some difficulties,

so hoping someone may be able to help,

the last thing we want to do is use anyones hard work and art work without

permission and end up getting sued or something. we dont want to offend or disrespect anyone.

im also wondering about how you can change a design so its not copyrited, such as the gb logos and things,

as i am really not 100% about it all.

With considerable difficulty. A prohibition symbol with a cat, or a hotdog would be free of copyright, and a prohibition symbol with a less Casper-like ghost might be more permissable, but the problem with variations of the Ghostbusters logo is that they’re still recognisable as the Ghostbusters logo… and then could end up being subject to Sony’s scrutiny.

If I may, I’d recommend using something other than a varient of the Ghostbusters logo. Opt for something unique, that way nobody can quibble that the unique logo isn’t yours, and that it isn’t derivative of something else.

we would like to get a header that is better than the current one which i have used as my signature,

I have spoken with " JohnnySparks"

and he has given me permission to use and mod his image with the two thumbs up,

so i can try and make them into fists,

and change the red in the sign to match our site colours

but i am struggling to make the round part round,

as when i zoom into the image

it goes very pixely,

and as the image is going on the hood of our van it will be large,

and we obviously dont want to have the image pixely,

is there anyone who may be able to help me turn this into a high quality image please?

we are very limited on timescale as we have until the Saturday the 11th of august to get it to the signwriters.

i am using windows paint as its the only program i can sort of fathom out but it seems a little limited

if you’re starting a paranormal group, having the ghostbusters logo on anything will jeopardize your credibility and the credibility of people that have spent their lives making this a legitimate science.

please rethink the use and dont bother with a response justifying it.

I’d like to start by saying that I don’t currently have the skills to make you a sign/ banner. But it might be helpful if you give the importance behind the reason ffor your deadline.

the importance behind the deadlne is the company is running a special offer on vehicle printing which ends at close of business on saturday.

I have had kind permission from " Lordgilpin " and " JohnnySparks " to use their design for my vehicle,

i have modded them both slightly.

I would totally assume a van covered with Chucky and psuedo-GB logos was a joke and/or just for fun, and not a group trying to pass off as a professional company. Your call, of course, but I’d suggest hiring a graphic designer to help you create a unique logo that fits the style you’re hoping for. If you’re really serious about making your company work, it often pays not to cut corners.

But that’s just me - good luck!

i am a paranormal investigator myself and have been with a couple groups and also ran my own group and i have to say the graphics your using will not help you one bit. it’s hard enough getting ppl to take you seriously when you get into actual ghost hunting and if you present yourself with these kind of graphics then ppl seem to not take you or your group serious. if i were you i wouldn’t use the gb logo in anyway. not even if you change it up. it’s associated with ghostbusters and always will be. i would strongly recommend drawing up your own logo or have someone else help you draw something up to your liking besides the gb logo. i don’t mean to come off as rude or anything but the way i see it if you want the gb logo on your vehicle then become a ghostbuster, not a ghost hunter. the last group i was with was a joke. they went as far as putting lightbars on top of there vehicle and tha’ts when i had to take my leave from that group because no one took them serious due to poor presentation. these are just my thoughts, opinions,and personal experiences tho so i hope this will help.

@ Carpeteria You would be right in your assumption. we just a group having fun not trying to be pro or make money.

@ venkman30 . I read your reply and i do agree with what you say, to some extent, but the people in our group

are there just to have fun, we are not there to try and make money out of " ghosthunting " or " ghostbusting ".

There are many groups out there posting fake things, there are also numerous shows allegedly claiming to have serious evidence, often using technology to try and get viewers to make extra money.

This is not only in the USA but in the UK also, one of the most famous, Derek Acora, caught out using information given to him, which he then tried to pass off as a psychic contact.

We are not fake, but we are also not the types that go out spending thousands of pounds on equipment either, we are just a group of friends out to have fun, if we see some genuine phenomenon, then thats fantastic.

Maybe if after a couple of years, the group has the members or finances available to get someone to draw a whole new design, then maybe that is something worth considering, in the mean time i think we will continue to have fun, i dont mean the trying to scare each other fun or anything like that, but visiting the various places within our local community ( reportedly one of Englands most haunted locations) and feeling the atmosphere, seeing if we can see anything paranormal.

Overall not take ourselves too serious, there are too many people out there claiming to be experts, without even having any form of proof, and qualifications in psychology does not count.

Basically my vehicle needed tarting up as it was tatty, and it seemed like a good idea, i still think it is and i will be driving it.

We are merely a small group of friends out to have fun. ( abit like those of you that dress up with props pretending to be ghostbusters, its fun i could knock you for that but i am above pettyness like that )

We dont want to spend out lots of money either on account of we are not trying to make money.

theres already too much of that about,

and it people putting fake vids out on youtube and stuff like that which damages the subjects credibility.
