Ghostbusters Animated Movie

Did you guys hear Sony want to make a Ghostbusters animated movie?

It would be sweet to get some more RGB. I just hope this would allow for some new content concerning the original characters.

I have so many questions! I can’t wait until we get some more info. This is exciting news.

I’m wondering if it will not be RGB but follow the original movie story instead.

For some reason we were explicitly instructed not to reference RGB in our game. (Still did though) I wonder if it has anything to do with license rights.

Seems like just a rumor. Didn’t an animated or CGI animated movie come up every so often like GB3 in years past?

Wait wait hang on. Let me amend my previous comment.

I saw an animated movie once and it SUCKED! Did anyone see that terrible TMNT movie a few years ago? Way to ruin the franchise, corporate studio hacks!

Ivan Reitman is a fraud! I can’t say I appreciate the scatological humor of Meatballs, the ■■■■■■■-esque comedy of Dave and movies like My Super Ex Girlfriend show an obvious gender bias and political agenda. Junior was a carbon copy of Kindergarten Cop and he has no creativity!

Boycott this film if you’re a true fan and you want your Ghostbusters as they were intended to be! All male and FLESH AND BLOOD!!1!

IDW needs to get involved! I would love an animated movie based on the IDW series!

The Wrap is reporting that no writers and director are attached. Sony wants the story to be from a ghost’s point of view. Slimer & the Real Ghostbusters CGI movie?

Wait, what? You worked on The Ghostbusters Video Game? What were the references?

You should go check out all the threads in the Video Game sub forum.

Used:

References include, prototype packs and equipment from RGB and EGB.

Flight suits in a box next to the Containment Unit.

Unused:

RGB flight suits for multiplayer

Citizen Ghost Ethereal GB models for multiplayer

I hope Ivan is heavily involved, and what we see is an updated RGB franchise. I’m psyched!

Was this a joke or were you serious? I couldn’t tell. The Tmnt movie wasn’t that bad, just a little boring. It’s funny you say the corporate studio people ruined it, because Peter Laird had a huge hand in the making of that movie. Which is probably why it’s a little boring. He usually came up with more of the fantasy elements of the turtles while Eastman I think pushed for the more street level brawls. You’d have to look at Volume 1 of the comics and compare them to volume 4 to see what I mean.

Anyway, it’s cool to hear an animated movie is in the works, but at this point I have no faith whatsoever in these announcements. How long were we promised GB3, now another movie alongside this Feig reboot with or without Channig Tatum, and I thought there was talks about another cartoon before. I won’t get excited or even believe this is happening until I see some production photos or a trailer. Even though I don’t care to see the reboot I kind of wont believe it’s coming out until it’s out. Dan Aykroid really did a number on me with all of his “GB3 is coming, I swear!”

I also hope it’s not in the perspective of a ghost. Why is it so hard just to make a good story about the original guys without putting some Kind of spin on it. We’ve had two movies, a cartoon, and a very short list of comics. It’s not like everyone has been overloaded with constant original team stories for the past 30 years. I would love to see an rgb movie. I still watch the cartoon all these years later and would love to see them do something new.

Joking / sarcasm. Mocking haters of the reboot. Hoped the “I saw an animated movie once and it sucked” part was a decent indicator of that.

Haha, I kind of figured, but it’s early and I’m tired so my brains not working fast enough yet.

I know it’s still early and I shouldn’t get excited yet… but I’m excited. I really hope this is a new theatrical film starring the original Ghostbusters. Ernie Hudson and Dan Akroyd for Winston and Ray, Maurice LaMarche for Egon, not sure about Venkman though between Murray’s disinterest and Lorenzo Music being gone. I was never a fan of Dave Coulier’s Venkman either. I bet they would have a decent chance getting Murray involved since it’s animated, like in the video game, but after hearing how bored/muffled/inaudible he sounded in the game I’m not sure him showing up in the animated movie is something I want, unless he were truly enthusiastic about it and performed it well. Oh, and Frank Welker for Slimer, please.

Also, wouldn’t a theatrical animated movie where the original Ghostbusters have to battle Samhain on Halloween be rad?

Between the video game, two Garfield movies, and the upcoming Jungle Book, I think it’s safe to say that Murray is fine with doing voice over work. Season One RGB quality with better 3d animation and the voices of the Murray, Dan, and Ernie? Totally awesome! I also have my fingers crossed that a certain 59 caddy be around and will stay in the minds of the public as well…

I read at one point during the dark times between part 2 and the reboot that Murray expressed interest in doing an animated film.

I mentioned it once in passing but I wouldn’t mind it if they used the basic story and voice acting from the video game and turned it into a series of animated movies. Use that as an opportunity to flesh out the Rookie and some new supporting characters.

Yeah, the original Ecto-1 car would need to be a must too, as well as the firehouse, and Janine would need to be present.

I think getting Murray on is possible. But again, how well would he perform it? You couldn’t hear half the lines he said in the video game. It sounded like he just phoned it in. But then again, I can’t really imagine anyone else playing it.

I saw Proton Charging’s post about this on Facebook last night, and admittedly, I was excited. Though, the actual new article doesn’t confirm which continuity the animated film would follow, so it’s not necessarily RGB (Though just about every other major Saturday morning cartoon of that era had a “movie” - so I’d love to see RGB get one). Like y’all mentioned though, it sounds like this is VERY early in development, so I’m not going to get my hopes up just yet.

If they can’t get Murray would you be happy with Frank Welker voicing Venkman? It follows the patten as he’s doing Garfeild now.
