"Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" Feature Talkback Thread

I straight-up thought that was Mark McKinney from the rebooted season of Kids in the Hall

Personally I was fingers crossed for Ted and Annette.

For a minute I thought the pic was Ted Fleming, but then I realized that his actor died back in 2012.

Does Slimer has a significant role in terms of being integral to the plot or is he a glorified cameo?

I didn’t know that, sad to hear it.

He’s in 4 scenes total that I recall and not integral but he does help the team out by eating the possessor.

I really hope you’re joking.

LOL. Don’t ever change, Slimer!

I kind of appreciate that you assumed we would never guess the cameo, and we came up with even more obscure guesses than what ended up being the perfectly reasonable correct one

Still think the Con Ed guy responding to the beam would have been an ideal cameo though.

Is Muncher in it? Is Muncher referenced at all?

Since the film got delayed almost a whole month where I’m from and he’s one of my favorite comics, would you mind talking about Lars role in the film? How significant is he to the plot?

Nope.

He plays more of a supporting role than main. Significant? Well everyone has a role to play but he’s not strapping on a pack. If you’re familiar with Bond movies he’s closer to Q more than anything.

Not so much “you could never guess” and more “if someone says they saw this cameo coming they’re full of it.”

There’s nothing to cry about during Frozen Empire. I wonder what he’s talking about.

True! Though the possibility of library guy showing up in a movie that features the library and the library ghost would be very reasonable (Richardless did seem to guess him as an option before noticing the real answer was posted). Instead we’re here like “Ghostbusters Alright guy or we riot!”

I am so glad to hear that! I don’t mind getting emotional over GBA but I didn’t particularly feel like feeling sad over this movie. Though to be fair I’ve gotten a bit teary just at seeing a movie I anticipated for awhile, but it’s a different kind of emotion.

Much to my great disappointment, not a single past ghost shows up. No Scoleri Bros, nothing nothing nothing. Just generic looking spirits flying out. If you’ve seen the tv spots showing the ghosts flying/streaking by, you’ve seen them all. Also no Vigo nor Gozer.
Maybe they immediately flew to the courthouse to file an appeal.

But bummer. Curious if at any point Gil and Jason considered bringing them back for a cameo.
False advertisement almost

I keep wondering how expensive this movie is.The 75 million figure from Afterlife gives a good idea FE is bigger but since it was shot on sets in UK i wonder if it wasn’t that expensive

If I understood correctly, they had to pay way less taxes being working in Uk and with Gil having British citizenship.

I’m a fan of the original crew. Afterlife was Ok - but for me I was hoping for a passing of the torch movie, with the original guys getting significant screen time…so I was disappointed. This one has my hopes up but can’t tell if this is a true team up or really just the new guys again with some “extended cameos” for the originals. So how much are the original Ghostbusters in it? Is it basically the new generation, with the old crew being in it for 15-20 minutes interspersed throughout? Or are they in it for at least half the movie - can you ballpark how much screen time the old crew collectively get? Also, how much is Venkman in it - is it like just 5-10 minutes (2 or 3 scenes) or is he in it for like 30 minutes (with several scenes)?

It is weird that they used that line so prominently in some of the ads, only to not show any specific ones that people would remember.

Anyway, back to important questions: what’s the verdict on the lion? Funny or not?

Dan Aykroyd was not on Jimmy Fallon Friday like he was suppose to be. It was just Ernie and Bill. Wonder what’s up

I mean, it sounds like they set themselves up for the sequels to have “hey, remember this ghost?!” pop up cameos now that the containment unit has broke down again.
