Check this out in the video below! Ernie says he’s doing a photo shoot in Toronto this saturday with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver. Sounds cool.
I won’t believe anything until I see it happen, but there does seem to be a lot more talk about all this than usual… well, other than the fact that it is the 30th Anniversary…
I’ve honestly found Ivan Reitman statements this week very interesting. He ventured into different interviews that Sony is currently in discussions with Paul Feig that it’s looking pretty good. But that being said I’m very excited about this photo shoot I’ve always wanted to see a reunion piece of some sort just sucks that Harold won’t be there.
I’m surprised they got Bill to agree to any kind of a reuniion kind of thing–invariably, Dan will probably corner him about one last chance to get involved, and Bill must know that…
Bill loves Ghostbusters, he just doesn’t want to do another movie, because he doesn’t want to taint the first movie like he believes the second movie did (although I loved the second movie)… I’m sure he has no problem doing a photo op with old friends…
He called it a “grande idea,” and says he’d watch it. So he’s a fan of the concept, at least.
It’s annoying me that I can’t remember the citations, but unless my memory cheats me, Bill’s been excited about the idea of female Ghostbusters since the nineties, back when it was the “Hellbound” script…
Hell, for all we know, BILL is the one who’s pushing for Paul Fieg to direct and for the movie to center more around the female members of the team. Bill did just get done shooting a movie with Melissa McCartney, after all… maybe that had something to do with all this?
I know it doesn’t sound likely, but it’s as good a reason as any, I guess, for why this all might be happening right now…
Well for sure, he’ll watch it, just like any other fan. Heh, wouldn’t that be funny of how Bill was the one who made the final push for the movie to be made. I guess anything is possible. It’s always the stuff coming from left field are the most shocking.
This is why I don’t care how big of a pain he is or how much aggravation he brings wherever he goes. The Murraycane is always going to get away with everything.
I personally rather they have upcoming young actresses? (cause I guess it’d be all female.. I’d rather have a mix of both female and male.).. Instead of actually known people. Kind of like what they are doing with Star Wars EP7.
I understand the appeal of no-names, but lets face it, nobody in Ghostbusters was a “no name” when that movie came out. In addition to SNL, Dan Akyroyd had already written and starred in “Blues Brothers,” and Bill Murray had done “Meatballs,” “Stripes,” and “Caddy Shack.” Harold Ramis had written “Animal House” written and starred in “Stripes,” and written and directed “Caddy Shack.” All of these were hit movies that made a lot of money, but all of them were R-rated comedies aimed at adults.
Ghostbusters was different, because it was PG, and it was aimed at a more general kind of summer action/comedy audience. It took these people who were already hugely successful within their genre and made them blockbuster superstars.
So nice as it is to SAY we want unknown talent to star in GB3, it’s more reasonable to expect people with established resumes in comedy to show up. They’re not going to trust a franchise this major to anyone unproven.
And still, nobody has suggested ALL the new Ghostbusters would be female. Bill Murray was just asked to name some actresses he’d like to see as Ghostbusters, and he did. The team is going to be bigger then two people.
By the way, I’m now personally convinced that Bill Murray making a movie with Melissa McCartney is a driving force behind this whole Paul Fieg Ghostbuster thing. He must have been impressed with her. Maybe they had a conversation about it.
