GPStar's New Kit Configurator

GPStar have just added a new configurator to their website. Well, I think it’s new, as I don’t think it was there a few weeks ago, but credit where it’s due as I think this is a great piece of design (and I’m a web designer!):

I bought my kit a few months back, and I remember thinking that trying to understand the differences between the kits was not the easiest to understand, and I’ve heard other people say the same thing, so hats off to GPStar for creating this as I think it make the process of choosing one of their kits much easier.

This was a smart choice for them, I’ve had two kits from them spanning a year or so and the progress they’ve made even during that short time is big. They’ve made a lot of effort to lower the barrier for entry to get these kits as it does take a degree of research to know what you need and how to install it.

Having just completed a build using a kit I bought last year, I think their next big step would be to really zero in on their instructions. Right now they span multiple kit types and they havea lot of build videos from people which are helpful but there’s some conflicting info on them vs. their printed instructions.

The gpstar team is extremely helpful on the Facebook page though, second to none.

They’ve come a long way from the ferrule mass turbulence of 2024

100% agree, I’ve just installed the Base kit on my Hasbro pack and wand, and yes the issue I had was that my kit was GPStar 2 with JST, but all the instructions seemed to refer to GPStar 1. It was only because I stumbled across a couple of YouTube videos with David doing the installs that it made sense, but yes, the process would have been a whole lot easier if the PDFs matched the kit.

All that aside though, and it is an amazing kit and I’m really happy with it!
