Gun hook...how do you make this thing let loose?!

So I have a dixie cup style gun hook system and the thing likes to grab pretty bad. I bent the tips of the hook in a little as a tip from a friend and that helped some (I can pull it off without breaking glue on the handle loose now…) but it’s still rather tight.

I’m thinking of using some vaseline or transmission assembly lube. Anyone have any other tips and tricks?

Look closely at where the metal touches on both surfaces. If there is a small point of friction, that should be the cause of the grabbing. Especially if it is a sharp edge. I personally sand mine down so that there are no sharp edges and that seems to work pretty well for me.
