Well its been 3 Halloweens now that I have been a member here. It all started so simple, how did this all get so out of control?
Well I think we have a pretty great community here, thanks to A.J and all the mods for putting up with me. And everyone for all their help over the years. Here is a small taste of what I’ve built while a member here and more already in the works. So happy Halloween and I hope everyone has a great night!
Wow! Lets carry this on. This marks my 9th yr here. Most of them I was broke. This yr after getting ahead in life was time to get it done. I built my first pack and got back into the community after all these years.
Well tonight was my first Halloween and I’m not sure it could have been better. Met hundreds of great people walking around Old Town, posing for photos and again being surprised at just how many younger people (even kids) knew exactly who I was. That was great enough but I also ended up winning three separate contests, two of which I didn’t even realize were going on…
The first was a small local store contest where you put your name in a box, they pick the best of the night and mail you the prize kind of thing. Even though it was only ~6pm they said “no one is going to top that!” and gave me all sorts of schwag and $50 off my order. The second was at a harvest festival that I got to right at the end when they were holding the adult costume contest. I walked up and heard “Ghostbuster!” from all over the crowd which got the announcer’s attention. He called me up and I walked away with $40 in movie tickets and a bunch of candy. The last was at a club but I knew about this one going in. $200 first prize but I figured it’d go to some scantily clad zombie or something but much to my surprise, I won. Awesome cap to the night.
Victories aside, I had an absolute blast talking to people and reminiscing about the movie. I know they wont all be this good but I’m stoked at how my first one went and I’m looking forward to my first convention this weekend (Comikaze). Last but not least, ran into this awesome little Ghostbuster whose parents swear he saw the movie on his own and decided to be a GB. Great kid in the making!
My first Halloween too. The only contest was at work but I did come in first. 2 tickets to see Kiss next Friday! Next year will be epic with a full pack built too.
Lots of people digging the costume and talking to me and asking for photos. I even had 1 very drunk guy come up and saying he loves all my movies and told everyone that Bill Murray was here. He asked for my autograph, so begrudgingly I signed a piece of paper “Who ya gunna call? - Bill Murray”. About 30 minutes later he came back and threw the piece of paper at me and said “You’re not bill Murray! You have the wrong back pack!”
If my friends weren’t there no one would believe me!
I had a great Halloween also. Was on our local radio station first thing in the morning with my ecto then was at our local mall with the ecto for about 3 hours. I was in full gear also. The day and night was a big hit.
We did Halloween the Saturday before hand over in Charlotte with some good fiends. I couldn’t walk more than 5 steps without stopping for a picture, and while the attention was great, that seriously hampered my alcoholic consumption that day. 8(
Sam also won their Halloween costume contest, and most of the prizes were donated to people in the area in need.
Man those are incredible costumes. Some of the best I seen was a group of 8 different characters from adventure time. I do t know the names of them but it was pretty neat. Hunter s thompson from fear and loathing. And simple but so well done was patrick bateman from american psycho. He looked the part so well to begin with, then he walks up and puts his business card on the table and tells me its bone. Then the whole rant about huey lewis and the news. It makes such a difference wh en someone knows their character and looks and acts the part.
I’ve been dealing with health issues most of the year, so Halloween was low-key. But, I have a pet project I’ve been working on in preparation for our trick-or-treaters. He’s not quite done (my ban saw crapped out on me Halloween morning), but nobody cared but me.
Hope everyone had a great Halloween -love the pictures being posted in the costume contest.
YES!! Best Pixar movie ever!! I just watched it yesterday again too! It’s a toss up if I don’t know what to watch or what to have playing in the background. Ghostbusters or Wall-E.
I Know it’s a little late and I’m a little embarrassed because my costume isn’t anywhere near as awesome as you guys but here’s what I was wearing greeting Trick or Treaters and their parents. :
I look heavier than I am because I’m wearing a sweater under the jumpsuit (It was cold). One or two parents walked away with a Nostalgia High and I had people yell out “Don’t Cross the Streams!” One parent was so blown away he must’ve took about three or more pics of the pack and trap.
Man, love all the photos! Protokev… yes, Yes, YES!!! That was totally awesome!!! KCGhostbuster, have you noticed, there is not GB chapter in our state? …Hint, hint…
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to have anything ready this year. However, I was able to get the kids all decked out in their own gear. And that was far better a reward than having my own costume!
(In some of the pictures, they’re missing they’re particle throwers, because they were at a school Halloween party, and we didn’t want them to get in trouble for having “guns”). :sigh:
They had a great time, didn’t have to worry about those inflatable packs, they play with they’re Kenner gear constantly, and they still insist on listening to the Ghostbusters I & II soundtracks when I pick them up from daycare/school. Every. Single. Day. Ha ha. They’re Daddy’s little busters!
It’s hilarious to hear my little three-year-old daughter shout, “Mother pus bucket!” They’re starting to quote the movies almost better than I do.
That is by far the least terrorizing and cutest stay puft I have ever seen! All in all a good looking bunch of ghostbusters. And how cool to see em rockin the old school gear I used to rock when I was their age.
