Quick question… I am looking to purchase hat lights in Canada. Does anybody know the real name if there is oone for these items and any ideas on where I can purchase some? Thanx guys!

If you keep your eye on the GBFans shop AJ restocks from time to time. With Halloween coming up I wouldn’t be surprised to see a restock soon.

this website can’t be the only place to buy them, though. I’d also like to see this info and possible other solutions that people have done in the past for the times that the hat lights aren’t available in the store…
I know when you google “hat light”, you get nothing more than camo baseball caps with LEDs in them, or pics directly linked to this website. I’ve looked up “incandescent lamp cover” and got something similar, but nothing that was close enough for me to want on my gear…
what is the technical name for this bit in the real world?

Its a military spec indicator light cover. They were discontinued before AJ was able to get them remade. You won’t find them else where.

The information on the hat light (actual manufacture, etc…) is available if you do a search. The problem is you must buy A LOT to get any directly from the manufacture, so it really isn’t feasible for someone that just wants a couple (unless you want to spend $4K like AJ). Keep in mind these aren’t the milky version, just the very close versions that are made today.
The other problem with not going through the shop is that fans will call manufactures, tell them what they want them for, and the manufacture (and/or other sellers of goods) will either A) jack the price up so much they aren’t reasonable for us anymore even in large quantities, or B) stop selling to us all together. Please don’t be one of those fans and ruin it for all of us. Don’t think that happens? Do some searching on the crank knobs.
As for a different seller, I have not found them anywhere else. Generally speaking AJ does a great job stocking them. If you need some buy some extra when they are in stock. If they are out of stock I recommend just putting up a wanted post and someone usually has a few extra.

What about other options people have done in the past, that isn’t the actual light cover? I remember seeing something about tattoo ink cups at one point somewhere, or other people that had cast just the plastic cover…?

That’s not quite true. They are an item that anyone can buy in large enough quantities.
Exoray had some on eBay for a while.

Saw AJ got blue caps in stock… with that being said can we modify that in anyway too an orange or white? if thats not the case… do we have any orange or white in the foreseeable future?
