Nobody.
I’d probably say Bigi with Burkit about to overtake him.
I would say, hands down, the 2-3 best proton packs on this website are Bigi71’s Sony lobby Hero Pack build, pchrisbosh1’s HMS GB1 hero Murray pack, and Nick-a-tron’s GB2 Hero Murray pack. These packs move beyond the debate of what “is or isn’t accurate” and are great examples of over-all presentation. They look like they were pulled right off the set of each film (or right out of the Sony Lobby). Its going to be exceedingly difficult to out do these builds, but I personally look at it like a challenge. ![]()
“Best” is a matter of opinion. There’s multiple different styles of packs, each with their own details and requirements. Does a good weathering job overtake a clean OMNI pack? Do electronics matter, and if so, does functionality trump being accurate to what was in the movie packs? Does having on-board sound mean a pack isn’t “movie accurate?”
The reality is, no one will ever agree on a “best” packs, but are more likely to see eye-to-eye on a group of builders’ packs.
I’d say the best pack is the one you built and own. There are a ton of amazing packs here, but I like mine the most ![]()
Amen! After all the blood, sweat, and tears put into it I would say your own. I try not to compare my pack too closely to their packs. There’s are great. That pcbosch one I used as references for my own build. Although mine is not perfect, it is so close I am happy with it. Well over 90% accurate and in my opinion much closer. Just how do you grade? Looks, functionality, paint color, or electronics. You got to remember when it comes to building your own you will make mistakes, drill a bad whole, sand a bit too much, paint issues, sticker placement, use a replica part, or heck even a new part shows up in the gbfan stores that makes you drool with envy. You won’t win. Not with everyone competing for the best pack, tutorial, parts, or technique. The best you can do is go for as accurate and as slow as possible at the time you build it. That and remember that once everything is painted, epoxied, bolted down, and more you are all set and no going back. With all the changes it becomes a little hard to keep following the forum. Gives you the fever to build a new pack or want to upgrade parts of your pack.
Like since mine came out there are better shells. Aluminum guns are easier to buy. More aluminum pack parts. Legit crack knob in stock. New texture technique on shell. ■■■■■■■ on pack. Plus, the new gbfans sound chip as well as ghost guy’s light kit.
There are so many great packs being made these days, it’s impossible to say one is clearly the best.
Some people really like the screen accurate pack with every single scratch and flaw, others like the
really clean straight lines of a new “fresh off Egon’s bench” pack.
All I know is people here build them better than the originals.
