So for the first time on the other night I put on my pack.. wow that thing is heavy, more than 35lbs I suspect. But that’s all well and good.

I reach back and grab the handle for the thrower to pose for a picture and then go to put it back and well hell if I could figure out how to get it back on without aid of a mirror. good lord.. lol

Is this just me or does everyone have this issue?

Has there ever been a scene in the film where someone puts there thrower back?

I can’t think of one…

Ya, we usually help each other out.

Our Taylor had an earth Magnet which seemed to work pretty well.

I can do it, with a vhook. Another guy in my group can do it with a dixie bracket.

You can do it with practice. I can rehook my on my V-Hooks with some ease. In the movies, there is no rehooking shots, if I recall correctly. The Key Fobs were used on scenes where the gun was of the hook, so to speak. Those work fine, and are fast to use.

I have yet to master holstering a neutrona wand. The key fob (the longer one) really does work great; I’ve worn it hanging from my belt all day at some events and have not had a problem.

All of the Denver guys can do it by tossing the thrower up into the air, and then moving the pack just right so that it clips on as it falls back down.

You actually have to MOVE the pack while it’s in the air to get it to clip on? Lame.

That’s what I’ve got the dixie bracket.

I guess it’ll just take some practice..

would make for a great bloopers reel watching the guys on set trying to put these back on.

I can do it if I shrug my left shoulder out of the ALICE strap. I actually can’t reach it unless I do that, since my pack sits lower on the frame than most, and in a staggering lack of foresight I didn’t bother to put a mounting plate under the bracket.

But my hook is a wall-mount bracket, too. I’m not sure if that’s better or worse for the purposes of holstering the gun, so to speak.

I planned on throwing a magnet under the mount to aid in alignment; it seems someone else has had success with that idea.

I NEVER try to hook my own thrower, “Help a buster out” is our motto. I’ve learned that It might feel like it’s hooked but then you take a step and SMASH! :frowning:

I have flush wall mounts on my wand and gun block. It takes practice but I am able to do it. If I don’t get it on the third try, I will go get a fellow buster to help me out. What’s great about the flush mounts is that there is a kind of “locking” point with my set up. I have no fears of my wand falling off if I need to retie my boot or jump around.

When I saw that scene I laughed out loud! Good job.

I’m the other guy in the group that can do it with the dixie bracket and it took several hours of me practicing in front of a mirror (because i sadly have that much time on my hands) to get it right. It’s still hit or miss most of the time though so your best bet is to use a fob, or a little team work.

Actually I’m watching GB now and I started to notice once they take their wands off they never holster them. Even after catching slimer they just carry them and walk out of sight. That or it’s attached to their belts. Once my pack is done I plan to wear it for hours just practicing to holster my wand.
