So, for my birthday my dad got me a Hotwheels Ecto-1. Now, while awesome, I noticed that it was a little bland, particularly in the roof rack area.
I decided that she needed a little paint job. So, I broke out my model paints and here’s the result:
I still need to clean up a few spots and make a sticker for the back door. What do you guys think?
nice. i picked this up by accident a few months ago at wallmart. havnt had the heart to open it.
I hadn’t opened it until I finally decided I couldn’t stand it anymore. Once it’s finished, I’m thinking about sealing it back inside the bubble package.
Also, I noticed something awesome. If you look in the back windows, you’ll see that there’s a rack with proton packs in the back (not really distinguishable in these pictures).
Nice job! Though, the right side tube is supposed to be yellow, not green. The digital transfer of the movie messed up the coloring.

Yeah, that’s the restored ecto. The builders didn’t know what they were doing and really didn’t care.
Yeah, I know it’s a little dark, but it’s the closest color I had. And I’ve had trouble mixing paints before, so I decided not to bother.

Are teh decals still available? I joined just to see if I can get a set…my 5-year-old daughter just scratched off the insignia on my Ecto-1
I’ve come to terms that the passenger tank was pea-green in the movie.
But that doesn’t mean it looks good…at all.
