How are my lights? are they timed right?

I’m doing a scratch build and I done my own light kit (actually I modified pre-bought model railroad kit), and I was just wondering if they look good and if they were timed right. I would appreciate any feedback. Dont mind the pack, its still in progress.

Do they look good? Hell yes.

Are they timed right? Well, if you are going for screen accurate, no. But if you are going for what looks good, then I’d say it’s great.

Can you slow them down just a bit?

They look good, but yeah if you could slow them down they’d look a lot better. Also the pause in the cyclotron lights is slightly jarring. If there is any way you can get rid of that or minimize it, it would be fantastic.

I took your advice and ordered that light kit for my packs. I noticed your clyo has a pause in its sequence. I didn’t get that when I wired mine up.

This is how I wired it. Did you do the same?

I skipped every other light, you have lights “10” and “1” (counting left to right) so as soon as light 10 lights up, light 1 goes instantly after it… use lights 1, 3, 5, 7 so 8, 9, 10 create your pause…looking good though!!! hope this helps

I would agree with you, but I tested it, and yes there is less of a pause than the other sequences, but there is a pause. It’s almost as if the circuit thinks there’s a light between 10 & 1, if that makes any sense. I plan to start the sequence at the top left clyo hole, so the shorter pause isn’t as noticeable, going from the bottom left to the top left. I will post a video, when I get back from my Halloween cruise.

If I’m wrong, you can throw tomatoes at me.

Is my PPD the right size?

What the heck light parts or kit did you use ?

QKits FK15

what ?

ah thanks - it googles a little differently though if you don’t understand the abreviation

Is there any sort of tutorial regarding this board - and did you use it for both lights ?

Honestly I am as electrically stupid as one can imagine. Is there any kind of step by step ?

The light kit comes with instructions. It shudnt take long to assemble it. I think he may have used 2 kits. I can’t tell cuz I’m using my phone, and don’t feel like scrolling up. But that pic shows 4 connections to the led ports. I’m guessing those 4 leds were used for the cyclotron

I bought two kits for each pack. Qkits also sells this,

You could use it for the clyo, but it’s a $1 more.

CwKelly was nice enough to point out that two of the regular FK115 kits work great for both power cell and clyo.

So I bought two of these for each one of my packs.

I wired it up so they both operate on one 9V, and it’s activated by a toggle switch on my pack.

The only odd thing about this circuit, is the jumpers. They only give you two, but you would need like 8 for each circuit. I just used wire for the jumpers.

Moon, just PM me if you have any questions. I’ve wired up 4 of these circuits.

One of my powercell circuits riveted to a mounting bracket.

The other circuit mounted to a clyo.

Pm sent mate !
