The reason will become clear after this weekend. An interesting exercise using limited reference to make a cheap replica as fast as possible. After staring at this pack design for 2 days I can say I’m not a fan and anyone that tries to make an accurate version in the future has their work cut out for them.
I couldn’t tell from the tweeted photo if the thing had an ALICE pack frame on it. But after looking at the general size of yours I 'd have to say probably not. But you put forth a valiant effort from just that one photo and did an admirable job from such a limited reference source.. It’s definitely a better first pack attempt than some of the ■■■■ excuses for packs I remember seeing all over the place during Halloween of 84.
I remember a couple of cocky acting clowns showing up at a bar I was at for the costume contest.. They had the standard grey mechanic’s coveralls with paper no ghost emblems taped on their shoulder like those black bands worn to funerals.
Their packs were just back packs stuffed with something that made them look round-ish and they were covered in tin foil. Their throwers were just kid sized toy M-16s attached to the “packs” with vacuum cleaner hose.
Then their jaws hit the dance floor when another guy showed up in his GB gear. His pack had colored LEDS that flashed, maybe chased and it had speakers where the gun mount block and powercell goes playing Ghostbusters over and over. I wonder if he used a Walkman or an 8 track tape player.
I remember being pretty impressed by it at the time, especially with no real reference material except from memory seeing the movie.
I’m sure if I had a picture of it today we could probably pick apart all the inaccuracies but it was really good for the time.
Man, if Feig is just trolling us, and this version of the pack is just meant to be a prototype that explodes in the first couple of minutes of its reveal in the movie… and the new one ends up looking baddass… or not…
