Is anyone else worried that there is a Robocop reboot heading our way?
There is, a teaser poster came out of SDCC last year if I remember correctly.
I believe it was at a trade show. Same one the Ecto was at I think. It’s a terrible idea.
Your Move Creep!
Bingo! Yeah, the New York Trade Show, not SDCC. ![]()
I’m afraid of it being a remake like how The Rollerball remake completely lost the message and themes of the original. I’m afraid this new one will just be a bunch of Michael Bay-esqe explosions and Robocop doing karate moves and having grappling hooks and built in lie-detectors.
Let’s not be too hasty. We don’t really know anything about it yet. I am worried it might suck too, and wonder why they felt it was necessary, but it’s possible they might end up doing a great job of it. I imagine the world (or even just Detroit) needs Robocop more than it did in the 80s/near future.
Maybe Delta City will finally make a apperance,
The basic premise I read is that it is a continuation off the 1st movie or two only, (forgetting the tv series and tv movies) and picking up 20 years later and the Robocop program being reactivated so not so much a remake as continuation/sequel.
If it is going to end up a remake I want Weller to play Clarence this time around.
I think Peter Weller is a bit busy for that. Isn’t he an archeology professor or something?
Last I heard Darren Aronofsky(Pi, Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler) is behind this film, so I’m looking forward to the end result…
“Bitches leave!”
Continued hey, so i wonder if they are saying Robo is sitting in a storage shed somewhere, and new robo is built, then old robo comes to save the day. If anyone is interested Frank Miller was behind alot of robocop stuff, before Hollywood destoryed his stories, Wiki it, its very interesting, he goes on about how this deal with robocop made him head into his own style even more so.
Peter is just doing a bunch of voiceovers for history channel shows, but yeah he is a professor, maybe honorary.
Yeah the new Robo is scheduled for a 2010 release. Aronofsky is set to direct, and Weller is for sure out of the picture.
I am excited because I am die-hard robocop fan and its in my nature to be excited when anything like this happens. I am skeptical about the new film however, it isnt a remake but a sequel. I hope they get a no name to play robo just for the simple fact that whenever a big name is thrown into a role like that, its retarded. Exceptions are Iron Man and thats about it…I just dont wanna see Clive Owen or Ben Affleck as Robocop. I will leave you with that to think about…
And keeping with your quotes…
“You can keep the gum…”
and
“Look at my ■■■■■■■ face…Dick!”
Your 104% right, they need an unknown to be robo. And I hope they make new armour (*sarcasm) haha, did you see in Prime Directive the new actor wearing the old armour…hillarious…he was only half a foot too short.
Get Miller back is my deal.
Anyone read his Robocop graphic novel, its sitting on my shelf.
At least the tv movie Robocop gave me some hope I could get by wearing robo gear, just like all those short stormtroopers. I’ll just have to give everyone who asks a lengthy explaination.
Haha, it would be ok if its in proportion. Unless you got your hands on an original suit… then caddy would have your babies.
I remember hearing about someone who has a ton of the original stuff including from the Directive movies. Oh well moving off topic now. This will just have to be a wait and see situation.
ED209 army!
I can dig it…I never could get enough of ED-209.
