hey i wasnt sure what was up with this years rgb pack. because with all the bills and gas… ahhh gas is a killer. i wasnt sure if i was gunna get around to build another rgb pack. but i think one way i could save money and i have said it before is working with a different material besides wood. cuz well i dont want to feel like im carrying a bag a rocks on my back. one guys said i should try using styrene. im wondering if thats a good material to work with or ifs theres something else. so let me know guys. cuz i wanted to get started around late august. thanks guys!
I had alot of fun using styrene for my pack, but in the end it ended up weighing about 25 lbs. Still can’t beat the look of styrene though. And the ease of use was great, too.
hey man, i say go styrene too. i know a bunch of people on proptopia use foam board. i think you should build a vac form table for yourself and make yourself a vac form pack. or maybe even fiberglass. oh, and i have some pics for you if you decide to do a rgb pack v 2.0 ![]()
I personally, I use foamboard. But thats because I have gotten quite comfortable. Plus, for me it was also very cost effective. but I have to agree with everyone else, nothing beats the look of a styrene pack. keep up posted ![]()
ok now where do i get styrene ?
If you use foam, like create a big block of it then sculpt your pack out of it (This was my original plan before buying a pack kit) You can get it to the shape you want, then there’s a chemical hardener out there that’s not hard to find, that you mix 2 parts together and coat the pack, that would give you your sturdiness, and then can paint it. We build tombstones out of styrofoam in our haunted house on a yearly basis, and this is how we do it, and we make some pretty ornate stones too, it allows every detail to last for years. I’ll dig up some pics when I can so you can see.
