Curiosity has me, and I’m going to get the IDW volumes as soon as I figure out how/what to read them on. In the meantime I have questions regarding the Refined Proton Pack for those who might have read it. The Wiki states it could only do boson darts, is that as a secondary fire, or it literally could only do boson darts?

I can’t remember the particular issue but Egon made a pack where it’s gun only fired boson darts. The pack was more or less the same but the gun looked like a cannon that was slung around the shoulder and fired from the hip. Think Jesse Venture holding his mini gun in predator.
Is that the one you’re thinking of?

i was kinda confused but this is what i THINK is accurate…
the packs they use are the standard packs, no other modes or boson darts, just a proton stream like in the movies.
apparently some time between the game and the comics the upgraded packs from the game were found to flawed or faulty (that made me sad), so they went back to standard pack (but modified).
the Rookie apparently still has a pack with the upgrades but the other modes are unusable, he keeps the upgraded “game pack” for nostalgia.
there are other packs like the smaller dual wrist thrower, streamlined (a newer/modified “■■■■■■■■■■■■”) pack.
also the heavyduty pack that Lundo12 mentioend ^ that does only boson darts, and of course the GB2 slime blowers
also peter used a proton CANNON… it was a shoulder mounted “bazooka” that shot a supercharged proton stream/blast
we have yet to see a darkmatter (shockblast/“freeze ray”) or meson pack of some sort…
maybe egon can make a shockblast netrona-shotgun 
… probably best used for zombies

Not really, based on their previous experience with Zombies. 
The “Boson Dart Pack” showed up predominately in #3 of the Monthly’s first volume.
Ok so it’s the ghost buster equivalent of a bazooka, interesting

the “infestation” Zombies are ones i consider unique…
typically the answer to zombies (according to social media and movies) is a shotgun.
and the shockblast mode (in-game) was basically a darkmatter shotgun.
