So for around $200 and some work you could have the same thing. I would say pass.
Agreed. There would still be a bit of work needed to fix this one up that should have been done to it at the beginning.
Does it come with anything else? There is no thrower, motherboard, or ALICE frame pictured.

Kinda figured, I’ll pass then. Thanks for the input. I’m a member of the 501st, so I’m use to building screen accurate star wars costumes, so this is new to me.
I would avoid it like the plague. The valley area between the upper and lower sections is way too narrow, the N filter is half off the synch gen, and that’s not including the clean up of some poor quality parts. The brass compression fittings instead of SMC or legris reps is the most glaring of the incorrect parts.
EDIT: Didn’t see it’s missing the cosmetic plates around the synch gen, and I can guarantee the number of facets is probably wrong without having counted them. I don’t think this is even a studio creations vac shell.
I’m no expert but it looks like you would have to replace a lot of the parts to make it screen accurate(ish).
The resistors are wrong, the loom from the HGA to the filler tube is too thick, I don’t see the legris straights and the elbows are all wrong, it’s missing a filler tube, missing a lens for the power cell, the N-filter looks too big to me, the ion arm cap looks cheap and it’s missing the brass rod, the clamp for the ribbon cable to the cyclotron is too narrow, it’s missing a few labels. Plus the bolts are wrong on the bumper, the shock mount is too short, the tubes under the power cell look too short…
That’s just the stuff I noticed. Personally, I’m not too concerned with complete screen accuracy but a lot of the bits and pieces here look cheap or incomplete. I think you would be paying $450 for a shell and a couple of parts you can salvage.
Yeah, def gonna pass on this shell. Just ran into it, thought I’d throw it on here and let the experts give me the what’s what about it. I’m not exactly sure what all I’m looking for as I am new to Proton pack building.
That’s understandable. I had to build a pack that was totally wrong to get a feel for what these things looks like. Most people build three before they get one they are happy with.

Oh, I’m looking at plenty of build threads lol. I don’t wanna mess this up. I want to strive as close to screen accurate (look-wise at least, may not be able to afford all the metal or real parts) From a 501st stand point (having built over 10 star wars costume, 4 stormtroopers, 3 clonetroopers, and 3 TIE pilots) I know how frustrating it is to see a newb buy/build something and be proud of it when it’s really just junk. That’s a mistake I don’t plan on making.
I’m still very much a noob to all this, and have yet to start on my own pack build (though I’m researching like mad), but even I can tell this pack has many, many flaws.
Hear hear. Even though it can get a bit samey reading multiple threads about the same thing, it’s the best way to get your head in to the “pack” zone.

I lived in that forum for months! Also make notes, I only subscribed so I could go back and but I always forgot where I saw something.
Shameless plug, but my build in my signature is ok, just working on my thrower, but there are a few go to threads I still use and go to first. Julz, hoot, Letmebleed, Noodlemaps, drjameshouse, bishops. Usually if a build thread is getting regular hits I check it out. That’s only a few, and there are way more! I apologize for all I missed.
You’ll find the ones you like and the techniques. Also, follow te ones close to the parts you’re going to use. Studio creations shells, gbfans shells, metal parts, resin parts. Scratch built parts. I would recommend spend at least a month living here looking at threads, before ordering. I have duplicate parts because I would buy something and something new would come out, or something slightly more accurate will come out. I’m sure it’s the same with the 501st.
