Hello, my name is Ryan, and I am a Ghostbusters fan.
Simple enough, who doesn’t think that Ghostbusters is the coolest movie of all time? But how did I end up here?
To make a long story short, I am a pumpkin grower, and a pumpkin rower. I live in Nova Scotia, and I grow giant pumpkins in my backyard. And in the fall, after the weigh-offs are all over, when the water is good and chilly, myself and 50+ other nutjobs take our giant pumpkins to a local lake for a boat race. We hollow them out, some ■■■■■■■■ 5 Horse motors and boogie across, most (including me) hike it across using a kayak paddle. A parade through town is part of the event, and everyone goes all out with themes and paints the pumpkins and such. 4 years ago I raced for a local radio station, and the past 3 years I have done a pimp theme, Superman, and last year my family and I did the Wizard of Oz. You can see what’s coming I’m sure, this year I’m doing Ghostbusters. Myself and my wife are getting reasonable facsimiles of the outfits, with hand built packs and hand dyed coveralls (using custom made “Gourdbuster” logos). My 3 year old and 1 year old are also getting little outfits, but their packs will be made of sponge and sewn to their outfits (for comfort). The pumpkin itself is getting an Ecto-1 paint scheme, with the addition of “slime flames”.
I know this is going to be the best year yet, and with the pumpkin plants just recently put out in the garden I’m itching to get some more work done on my packs, which are going to be half assed versions of all the cool ones found here.
