well there we have it folks, Ivan Reitman has left the project, Harold has sadly passed, Bill Murray isnt interested and who knows about Dan Ackroid and Ernie Hudson…RIP GB3 as we knew it!
I also read Ernie is out too. Only Dan will still be a part.
I also heard that New York dropped out too.
Why so many threads about the same thing? Can we keep it to one?
I heard Ivan dropped out as the director, but is on board as a producer and the movie should be starting production as early as 2015. I read this on ign.com

Well, since there are already threads with the exact same info in it about the exact same thing, again I ask, why the need to start another thread about it?
given the news had only come out a few hours before I put this post up and cant see any other topics related to Ivan leaving the directors chair and this is the GB3 forum I thought it would be safe to post! sheesh!
you guys need to have some spiritual faith. Ivan’s producing, Dan is in, Ernie said at a comic con meet and greet that he wouldn’t say no. Sony is excited bout the script. from what I’ve heard about the ideas for the movie from Dan it sounds very interesting.
We’ve all heard the same things for years. Don’t start puffing up with excitement or you’ll go blue in the face.
Seriously, this movie has been “about to start filming” since 1997.
Haha I know. I can’t help it tho I get excited bout anything Ghostbusters.
Not above having faith in something that is loved but, and even though I am a die hard GB II lover, that movie started with humble beginnings. Friends gathering around a table having laughs about making GB I and how great it would be to do another one. In the case of GB III, we don’t even have that. We have a scattered group of people that boil down to a movie without the OGB’s. 20 year sequels and reboots are always just about money. Hollywood will not apologize when this movie doesn’t please the Ghostheads. Dan might even reconsider his CHV tours for fear of angry fans approaching him. :vinzclortho:
I for one won’t be blaming anyone for a bad Ghostbusters movie. I just feel life is to short to let things wonder. If they have a good story then why not tell it. If we don’t like it then we don’t watch it ever again and the only people that are losing out are the movie makers. We still have 1 and 2. They gotta give it a go. With all the BS that is comin out at the moment I would like my future kids to enjoy the kind of original entertainment that I was brought up on.

Is there a chance that Ghostbusters III will be a satisfying sequel? It’s certainly possible. It all depends on the strength of the story, the new characters and the casting.
When you think about it the script has had to go through some pretty drastic changes. I mean, originally it included all four of the originals, then Venkman had to be written out and now Spengler’s had to be written out. That’s got to have effected the story in some way. The fact that they’ve been so flexible with this script says to me that it’s not a particularly strong one.
I must say, without Harold, Ivan and Bill a remake seems to me like the most sensible way to go.
I find the talk of the originals “cameoing” disconcerting.
I mean, I have accepted the fact that they really wouldn’t be the main characters anymore, but if it’s a case of “Ray and Winston are in the movie for about 5 minutes” then I’ll be plenty unhappy.
I like the concept of Ghostbusting, so I’m prepared to anticipate the movie when it enters production (it honestly doesn’t sound like bullshit now with all the talk from Sony). And I trust they’ll aim to make the new Busters likeable, but the new guys can be the full leads in GB4. GB3, to me, needs to be more transitionary and have Ray and Winston (Peter too, if you’re wishfully thinking) still be the stars, more or less.
But yeah, how about this news, huh? All this talk from Sony (and not Dan Aykroyd) actually has me believing it’s going to happen. I don’t recall anything this concrete having been said from the studio in the entirety of the GB3 rumor mill. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t happen, now.
I think any cameo that they come up with has got to be better than Bruce Campbell’s in The new Evil Dead. I bring it up as an example, but I still liked it. 
I might be part of the minority, but I think it’s great news that Reitman won’t be directing the third installment. Did anyone see “No Strings Attached”? Awful, just awful. Plus, there was talk that he thought Ashton Kutcher would make a good Ghostbuster!?.. excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth a lil’ bit. My pessimism towards GB3 is slowly changing to optimism.
I think they should just leave the franchise alone. I think the Ghostbusters video game from 2009 is a way better sequel than a movie would be at this point. Sorry. I’ve probably said that a billion times on this board. I just am not interested in a movie where the Ghostbusters are all old guys training a new team.

I get what your saying, for a while I was only interested in GB because of the story about these four guys but then I thought about it and realised (to me) the idea of Ghostbusting is bigger than that. I always imagined myself as a kid to be a fifth Ghostbuster and I’m sure a lot of you out there did. I wrote my own stories involving new characters when I was in my teens. I hope this movie turns out good for my own selfish reasons…where i live Ghostbusters is dead. My gf went to a costume shop and asked them if they had any gb costumes and the lady there laughed and said “that franchise is old and dead.” I just went to a Oz comic con and there was nothing Ghostbuster-ish there at all. No costumes, no toys nothing but me in my gb shirt and jacket. “The kids don’t know how we are anymore”
