hello everyone. i’ve been around the site for a long time but have never made threads on my builds or anything. with my second pack on the way and new uniforms being put together i figured it was about time…
here is my uniform as it exists today, nomex flightsuit, gbfans no ghost patch, old school katarra8 name tag (to be changed in the near future), gbfans belt, real sanyo 802d belt gimo, homemade gizmo holster, tyger cheex fobs, custom dyed leg hose ( have no clue who made the connector, it was given to me) judo century elbow pads, mt500 w/motorolla holster, MMM trap holster, and a nylon tape measure holder that carries my pke, bates boots with sidezip.
my new nomex has been ordered to put together a gb2 khaki with the charcoal to follow later. so right now i’m concentrating on putting togehter the black belt. i thought i had lucked out and made an awesome find that would help all those after black belt get one cheap and easy, that is milspec on top of it. i meant to post about this belt a while ago but i had no sucess in changing it from green to black (only available in green). here she is…
the belt measures 3 3/8 wide with 2 inch straps and buckles. it’s a little bigger then it should be, but for something off the shelf it’s pretty close.
this pic was taken just before my recent attempt to dye it black. i had already tried a vinyl and fabric dye i used on my elbow pads as you can see in the pic, with some sucess but the green keeps coming through. mainly on the 2 inch straps. after the dye bath the inside on the belt, which is some sort of webbing, turned black no problem, the rest, darkend…slightly still very green.
not sure where to go from here. does anyone have any advise on dying this thing, tip or tricks…something?? lol
the materials i can only assume are a high content synthetic, probably polyester. which i know are not supposed to be conventionally dyeable, but i’m sure there is something i can do to it (aside from flat out painting it). i just bought a bunch of stuff to start making fobs but i need this belt thing figured out before hand..my plan b is to use the standard alternative 2.25 inch black belt sold in the shop. any help or advise is appreciated.
