Normally I don’t report on rumors about Ghostbusters 3 as they never seem to come to light, but in this case it will help clear up some misinformation out there. Most recently it has gotten out that Judd Apatow is producing a new Ghostbusters movie. This coming after Dan Aykroyd stated in an online chat with the Boston Globe that Ghostbusters 3 could start production this fall. More than likely, this is a continuation of the rumor from last fall where it was said that Seth Rogan, Paul Rudd and others were going to be in a new Ghostbusters movie. Those rumors were quickly debunked by Rogan and Rudd, and this time is no different. The Los Angeles Times did a little bit of detective work to get to the bottom of all of these Internet rumors by contacting Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures:
“It’s not true. We have some great new writers working on a new script, but Judd isn’t involved. Judging from the frenzy on the Internet, there still seems to be plenty of interest in the idea of doing another film, so we’re certainly taking that as a good sign.”
I actually updated my orginal post about this with the new info and a new title for the post at 11:00 tonight, but everyone has been busy checking out the new Ray Parker Video about 118 and I didn’t think to tell anyone about it. LOL
I guess next time I should probably let someone know beyond just updating the post.
Oh well, you live you learn.
And as I said in my update, I am encouraged that they have definitely noticed that there is a significant interest in a 3rd movie across the net since the rumors seem to be coming hot and fast. And if the care and attention that is being paid to the game is given to another movie installment I am not against it. But in the meantime, I am looking at the game and drooling for June 16th.
Thank goodnes Apatow’s out of the picture. I like some of his movies but as previously said by someone else, I was worried that it would turn into a movie full of ■■■■ jokes.
I’m overjoyed to hear this, and I hope that it’s a permanent ruling out of the Apatow clan ever setting a single foot into something related to the franchise.
Apatow is not saying he’s out of the picture, we’ll know more when the studio releases a statement on the status of the script, which will be in June. So nothing is safe until then.
I must say I’m very exited about a third movie, but it all depends on the cast… I think they still could do it with the original cast, but it needs to be done “now”. There were some talking about them appearing as kind of mentors to a younger group of busters… Guess that could work, I dunno! There are so many if’s :-?
