I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the jupiter electronics kits? Iguess to be more specific the wand kit and the pack lights run independently from eachother on 9v.
The questions are…
How can these attach to run off a single source… assuming thats the best route to take should I be worried about it shorting out?
What would people recommend and if there are threads for sure leave it.
Im horrible with electronics but wanna step my pack up for comic con.
For a single source run two electrical wires to both of the power terminals on each board. After that just add an additional set of wires from your power source to any of the boards. When the power is turned on both boards will do so as well.
I have Jupiter Electronics Lights in one of my packs. It’s true the wand and pack can be wired together by just a simple addition of two wires (included in the kit, but I’d suggest to get longer at Radio Shack) screwed in by a screw driver. No mess at all. That way the entire pack runs off just a single 9V battery located in the wand and a flip of a single switch.
When you order your kit Jupiter is more than helpful answering any questions you have, also comes with instructions in the package explaining how to hook them up, along with tricks on how to change lighting patterns and such.
I really love my kit. I had no experience with wiring or anything electrical and I absolutely love the way it looks on my pack!! Not to mention all the lights individuality can be replaced with just a screw driver.
On a side note… how did you mount your lights in both the pack and blaster? I have some ideas on how to “jury rig” them as is it were but it would be good to get another opinion…

I know I might catch a lot of hell and disagreement on how I mounted my lights from some members here… but I’ve had NO problems with them at all what so ever and I’m happy with them a ton!!
It was just one of those things for me to just trail and error. The pack was the easiest though. I’ll put it in English too,
The blue Bar light on the pack actually has two small holes on it’s board, so I just went out and got a screw that fit with a nut, and I used just one thin metal L bracket from Lowes or Home Depot. Once the bracket was on the lighting board it was then just bolted to the motherboard of the pack. just to be safe I wrapped the metal bracket with black electrical tape so it sits right against the light board without any issues.
The 4 red flashing Pack LEDs is actually attached to my shell with four PVC cylinders just a little wider than the holds drilled into my shell glued right to the shell. And they’re actually literally just duct taped from their backs onto the PVC covering the hole completely. (but I plan on rigging a board of sort for them to attach to the packs motherboard just like the screen used packs)
In the wand it was all just eye balled. Figure out where you want which lights and start with that… I used little lighting Caps that came with my Nickatron wand, and it has a Nice little pocket for the LEDs from Jupiter to sit in there without moving. so I just sat the LED so they rest inside the caps and literally just taped and glued the connecting wires against the inner walls of the wand. I’ve had the wand and pack in extensive use for a year now without any problems with the lights at all!!!
The Barrel light was a no brainer and simple by drilling the hole in my resin wand and glued into place.
The Yellow Bar Graph on the wand was just eye balled. In my Resin wand there just happened to be a beam right next to where the board of the bar graph light is. So it was just glued right to the beam inside the wand body.
For the wand it’s mostly the trail and error. It took me time to think what was the best choice and cleanest… but it’s one of those things when you need the physical pieces in your hands to figure it all out… and the two connecting wires from the wand to the pack is just hidden away inside the black hose.
Depends on the sound kit. Jupiter uses SPST. If you use the GB Fans kit you only have to splice one of the wires on each Jupiter kit and run a new wire from the splice to the corresponding terminal on the sound board. For example, to have the “intensify” trigger the firing sound, you snip one of the wires on the intensify Jupiter kit, connect it with another electrical wire (I use twist connectors), and screw in that new wire into the GB Fans fire terminal. Easy peasy.
