I was able to obtain a Kenner firehouse in a garage sale this summer. The nice lady who sold it to me was moving to a smaller house so she priced things really cheaply. So 20 bucks later i had my very own Firehouse.
As you can see the firehouse was in rough shape. I zipped a pm to Captcyan to ask for advice and to see if he was still selling his parts that he made. A few pms and days later this bad boy showed up in the mail.
Included were doors, RGB containment unit, pole, Roof unit to replace the switch, Sign with decals, and fillers for atop of the doors. (yes the pictures of the firehouse were taken after I got the package.)
The next day i decided to take the firehouse apart. I set the water as hot as my poor hands could tolerate, and set to work. About an hour later i finally managed with 3 precision screw drivers to get it apart.
Although i don’t have pictures of the process, That night i used some goo gone with a scaple and removed all the stickers from the pieces.
I’ll tell ya, that goo gone was awesome. All i had to do was get enough of the sticker up with the scapel for me to grab it, and the stickers peeled right off. No scraping or scratching needed.
While i was doing that, I also was painting the roof black, Although i origanally wanted to use a flat black, i accidently gabbed the Satin black instead. Oh well, i think it looks better that way anyway.
Tonight was the first night in a while that i was able to get to work on my firehouse. I decided to do some detail work on the roof. I got most of it done, but I still need to do some touch up and a black wash.
I unfortunately dont have all the paint i need to finish this tonight. but i think its a decent start. What do you guys think?
Wow, looks really good.

good start, looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Can’t wait to see the next round of pictures!
ok round 2,
I cant believe i forgot this pict last time,

It just showing no more stickers,

all the cracks are filled in. This is the second round of fiberglass for the bottom half. I am just filling in some inconsistencies, The top looks like its going to be a pain to sand.

The pieces to make the arch are sanded and epoxied in place, I should be filling in the cracks and inconsistencies with bondo tomorrow.

I wasnt a fan of the tan flooring plus there was some stains i couldnt get rid of, so I painted it a nice deep brown. now it looks like a real wooden floor.

All the railings are painted a flat black, I am going to experiment with them tonight by painting the fittings on it bronze to show wear,
And thats all i have for now. Feel free to ask any questions. I am trying to figure out how to handle the floor right now. So i should have more pictures tomorrow.
Are you going to fill in the holes on the floor and roof?
I wasnt planning on doing anything to the roof. I had considered it for the floor, but that would be a lot of work to make it look good, and plus its already painted. not sure at this point, I have to see how everything else works out.

So just picked up this beauty off of ebay. Anyone else thinking what i am thinking? Good. I plan on modifying it for my Firehouse. Minus the toast and add a little paint and a cord and i will have my “dancing” toaster!
I love it. thats a great idea.

How did this ever turn out?
Alex
it got put on hold for other projects, I should be starting up again in a few weeks after some gb events
I apologize for taking so long in doing this, but life got in the way again..

I did a minor brushup on the roof. mostly just added the copper tubing..

Close up of the railings…

I am not quite done with the bottom. I need to talk to a friend of mine about some wear techniques he uses.

i filled in the cracks between the arches i got from CaptCyan. and finally sanded the fiberglass filler on the side.. i was surprised to find out that after all this time some of the fiberglass didnt harden and came of as soon as i started sanding it..thankfully it was just a small portion..
I will begin texturing it as soon as I finish the floor..Thats all for now!
Well, here is another update.
I wasnt at all happy with how the floor turned out so i decided to redo it. I got some texture paint form Michaels and I painted the floor Aged Concrete Grey..

I just painted the insides of the firehouse an off white. Thanks to CaptCyan for the Containment unit and the decals.. They really turned out swell..

Not much to update, I painted the “trim” around the inside of the big window on the front wall, attached the roof and painted the tabs from the walls black. I also textured the entire outside of the firehouse…Now its a waiting game till the texturing dries.. However i Think Ray and Venkman approve of the remodel!

The kid who previously owned it, broke the backet off that was near the door. So the floor warped. I glued the floor in place with model glue to try and shore up the floor.
I am probably not going to do any more updates till my reveal of my fire house. So here is a teaser to keep you satisfied till then! Thanks for all the kind words! ~Jw

The Firehouse is Done! Thanks to everyone for their support. but enough of my Blabbering, Bring on the Pictures!

Yes the sign lights up!

I know your wondering what this is, It is a File server for all the franchises to access critical data from GBI. Actually all it is, is a sneaky way to hide the battery and the switch for the lighted sign

I originally was going to use the styrene pole i got from CaptCyan, but I found this Brass tube at a local hardware store. A little bit of resin and a little modification of the Roof unit and it fits perfectly!
