My son decided he wanted to be a GB for halloween aswell. So mI have been working on his proton pack. Here are some pictures.

As this is just for halloween and play and he will probably be grown out of it in a year I am just simply using the straps from an old school backpack. here is a few pics.

Wow Awesome work! My son this year at first wanted to be one but chose a damn bat. Either it was his choice or my wife was pissed about all the parts laying all over the house. Anyhow how were you able to scale that to fit? Once agian looks great!

Seriously guys thanks for the great compliments it means alot, I have seen some of your builds and packs and it really does mean a lot to me.
As for the questions, firstly I have painted it now, as seen in earlier photos, as for scaling, Honestly I wish there was some big secret I could tell but all I did was get the template for the full size one and I just drew inside the lines by about an inch. Then the rest was just done by eye.
I am glad I was able to put some lights in it. My son just loves it. and as it was foam it is nice a light and if he falls or trips it wont hurt him and the whole thing cost less then $20 (although I had the tubing and pipes and switches already so they don’t count in the price, but don’t to much) so no great loss if it gets damaged, not that it should and if it does it should be real easy to cut the damaged piece of foam out and replace it. I think intotal the pirce of this pack (if I had to go out and buy everything needed) would be around $40-$50 not bad considering the price of some store bought crap costumes. lol…
Oh and honestly I would love to build more, I have the templates all saved with each one I just get better and better ( hope that didn’t sound bug headed), I just meant I am learning more each time).
if you think you want to build some more kid ones, I am definitely in. it would make an awesome christmas present for my nephew, since the one I made for him last year is kind of lame. yours is great because its screen accurate, but even better, lightweight!

well when you get a chance can you put together a list of materials and costs etc?
also as far as interior space goes… not only does he want lights but SOUNDS too! (he met a couple members of the GBNH, and their packs were full screen accurate with lights and sounds) I have an mp3 player that could be attached - if the player itself were embedded into the gun somehow (no need for fancy switches etc, as long as the controls were easily accessible) with the wires running into the pack, would the pack be sturdy enough to attach a couple small speakers inside? obviously this is a big project and would probably be the only thing he gets from me for christmas. any thoughts?
Jamie, I’m in! not for this halloween as it is too close now, but my niece loves the ghostbusters and I would love to give her one for her birthday. Keep me posted if you can do one for her, it’s a beautiful job for a kid and I would love to take her to cons as a mini GB!
