Out of curiosity what does a pack built with a fibreglass shell fully fitted with aluminium parts and an aluminium thrower weigh (on average)?

Shoot, mine is 37 lbs… and I wear it for an average of 7 hours straight per event… V330 shell with full aluminum parts… I highly suggest padded straps ala GB2 and proper neckfoam, it makes it feel like 10 lbs lighter… However, I am also in the Military, so 30+ lbs on my back is not too bad… Try passing around 5-inch Gun Shells around for over 10 hours (that’s over 49,000 lbs or 22 tons in weight to lug around in less than a days time)…

Yes, but you are a big-strapping-youngster… I’m a fat-old-man

I’m with you on the fat and old department. My first packs in the 80s were made of styrofoam.

My ‘hero pack’, begun a few years ago, is a thirty pound V330 beauty with an aluminum wand.

For my sons, I wanted lightweight, so I went with Studio Creations shells and Matty wands. I am getting to the point that if either son opts not to go to an event, I wear the spare featherweight one instead of my full one.

I’m seriously contemplating making one more… a ‘stunt pack’ for myself for parades and similar events.

We recently were asked to ‘protect’ the attendees of the 90-minute-long guided foot tour of the haunted spots of historic downtown Florence, the annual “Ghost Walk” event. (I mean, they allegedly hanged a robber and buried him under the street. Every block or so is another haunted building.)

Heck, on Hallowe’en I saw a little kid wearing a Rubies foam pack-- upside down-- and thought to myself, it really doesn’t look all THAT bad, LOL.

Funny… I’ve come full circle, back around to the idea of a foam pack.

I think I’m only strong enough to to carry a Rubies inflatable pack…filled with helium

I remembered when i finished my first pack and doing halloween in san Francisco. A few hours of walking up and down hills. I remember thinking this is what the final scene must have felt Like, walking up 22 stories.. Never again and that was with leds and a small battery. Couldnt imagine wearing one with metal parts , motorcycle battery and incandescent light bulbs. I wonder how much time during filming they were wearing hero packs vs stunt packs
