I have some transcripts from the chat on the Empire site.
Firts, a user told me about a Dan’s interview on LW today:
“He responded with they are still waiting for the perfect script as they wont do anything if its not perfect but him, Reitman, the studios, etc. all want to do it when its perfect.”
And these are all Dan quotes about GB3
*The script must be perfect. We cannot release a film that is any less so. We have
more work to do.*
*Virtually every State has a GB unit, and my dream
is that if and when GB3 gets produced, it would be a great thing to have all 500 serious State
Ghostbusters representatives to come visit the set - either in blocks of 10 or blocks of 100.*
I was the one that asked those questions…if you check out the Orlando Ghostbusters, proton charging, or GB fans facebook, I posted the full transcript of what I asked and what he wrote…
Yeah I had a feeling this would be the huge topic for today. Maybe I’m missing something, but are the articles up front jumping to conclusions on the possible re casting of Bill Murray? I just didn’t see anything in Dan’s quote That suggested that he was considering recasting Bill. The quote goes, “His (Bill’s) Position on his involvement in Ghostbusters 3 has been made clear, and I respect that.”
I thought that Bill’s position on the project was that he’d do it if the script was good. So did that change or am I missing something in the article or are the news sites doing what they do best and jumping to conclusions?
Wow, it’s almost as if the tables have finally turned, all this time up untill now, Dan has been the most optimistic of the film seeing the light of day, within every interview up until now we had the repeated “hope to start shooting next year”. Now, we have the “i don’t know at this point”,
I don’t care how many times i see it, that “Mood Slime Clip” makes me laugh every time.
I’m gonna say Dan was trying to find excuses. He went on to say how ET took 10 years to get made. Well, the first Batman (1989, Burton/Keaton) was in production limbo since the late 70s, producer Michael Uslan, was trying to get it off the ground forever untill discovering Burton in late 88 I think Ghostbusters is a much different matter, One it’s an original comedy, so the originators have to be the ones at the helm, it’s not a randomly shelved script that can be picked up by any producer, as the writers/producers of the film are the stars as well. Batman and ET, could have been made 20 years later, and still had the same impact as they were not created by it’s stars.
He also goes onto say that the “script isnt perfect”, but i remember in past interviews he was praising the script and couldn’t wait for Murray to give it a look. I don’t know what to believe now !
