I just went through the first backup disk I ever made and I found one or two gems I HAD to share with you all, particularly my fellow old timers.

Without further ado…

First, some additions to The Proton Lab (my old site) that I didn’t get a chance to post before it died…

My personal favorite variation - The Universal Studios proton pack (one of many)

The founder and chairman of this phenomenon, Mr. Norm Gagnon, holding the prop proton pack that greeted visitors to Bill’s page for years and was probably responsible for starting this crazy thing (and a lot of business for home depot):

Drumroll please…ladies and gentlemen, I give you…the world’s first proton pack plans, as created by Norm!! (Hope you don’t mind me posting this, Norm, but it’s a great piece of history…)

Somewhere around here I have an archive of what the prop archive used to look like back in 2000? 1999? 2001? I don’t remember.

Astantax I love how you even made the geiga meter and a RGB style PKE. Yours kicks the butt of my first pack…cereal boxes with tinfoil on them. Man I wish I could find pics of that, if there even are any.

Actually, none of those were my packs, I ran a website called the Proton Lab wayyy back when this all started, from 1996 to like maybe 1999/2000. I used to get submissions via email (had a huge prop gallery, back when new pictures were so rare me and eraser99 used to fight viciously over them) and I never got the chance to add the pics above to the proton lab.

Thanks for the inadvertent compliments…my actual first attempt (I have a picture somewhere) was pretty horrific, but I made it based off of version 1 of norm’s plans, shown above…we didn’t really have much in the way of dimensions back then, and I was a prop-making neophyte with absolutely no skill. Yeah, my 1st pack was horrible. :slight_smile:

Oh man. I rememer when those MTGB Graphics were “so realistic”

Too bad I dont have any pics of the very 1st pack I made… Cardboard box that was spraypainted black, paper plate cyclotron w/ red sharpie lights, a metal table leg for a wand, and rope for straps and hose. Come to think of it, I could probably rebuild it and snap a pic and claim it was the one I made back then.

Heh heh…Eraser99’s site is still up and running but hasn’t been updated since 1999. There’s lots of pics there from the early days of Ghostbusters prop building and some of Norm’s early plans.
