Master power switch

Hey everyone,

I’ve just had a look through the forums but can’t really find a definitive answer for this.

After watching the first movie last night in the elevator scene, Ray asks Egon to switch him on. It looks like Egon hits a master power switch somewhere on the back of Rays pack but I’m not sure where…maybe near the powercell or booster frame? Somewhere on the LHS but hard to tell.

The reason I ask is because I think I’d like to put a switch on my pack in the same spot depending on where it’s supposed to go. But does anyone know if it’s gonna look stupid or out of place in the middle of the pack? I can justify it if the movie packs did it but the plans or reference pics don’t really mention it.

I know that some people have built their packs with a master switch on the side of the powercell, near the HGA or on the mobo concealed by the Alice frame which looks really cool, so I guess I can always go that option.

Just wondering if anyone can shed light on this, thanks

It’s called “movie magic”. Ray says “switch me on”, Egon moves his hand towards the pack, post production adds in a sound effect.

Some people have added external switches in roughly the same area that Egon reaches towards but nothing you use would be accurate.

It was just to add a funny moment to the movie. Nothing more.

It’s too bad they didn’t have Egon hit a switch on the other side of the pack because then you could argue that he hit the switch on the gun.

Yeah I figured it was just a ‘once off’ for the aesthetics of the scene, but just interested to see if anyone had actually looked into it a bit more

Just by doing a quick search this is what I turned up

This topics has indeed been covered in detail many times and it popped up more than a few times when doing a search for “master switch”

I’m sure I have seen a few people address the issue of the fake movie magic switch, and I’m sure they will pop up when you do some searches maybe with different combinations of key words…

Ah yeah sorry chief, still getting my head around how descriptive I need to be to get the info I want from the search function. I’ve obviously tried the wrong word combo.

My bad.

But thanks for the info guys, much appreciated

Basically, if you want a switch, install a switch. But it’s not on any plans (besides Norm’s). It’s not screen accurate.
