It’s probably been stated before, but anyway, I was wondering, should the main power to the pack be a switch on the gun or the pack itself? I always thought it was the pack due to the elevator scene. but then there a scenes with the “power on” noise going on when a switch is turned on in the gun??
If you’re building a movie accurate pack there are no switches on the pack unless you make the crank knob a rotary switch.
ther must be a switch on the pack… the elevator scene??
mabey its hidden?? the best place id hide a switch on the pack would be behind the hga
out of sight
im wondering if you can have 2 switches one on the gun to access the pack and a standalone switch on the pack for when you just want pack lights on while the guns in the holster
i know exorays pack kit has a switch but i dont know if you can have the pack switch and the gun switch aswell to power on the pack
That’s movie magic my friend. All the sounds were done post production. And in the elevator scene where Egon “switches on” Ray’s pack? Acting. There’s NO power switch there on the power cell. But the scene flowed better with him reach to the power cell then reaching all the way around to the gun and fumbling with a switch over there.
Jack is right, are you trying to build a movie accurate pack? Then all the switches are on the gun. But that doesn’t mean you can’t put a switch on the pack. I mean, everyone (including myself) that has sound in there packs are not “movie accurate” either. The real props didn’t have sound in them, just lights.
not trying to build a movie accurate pack, my last packs have a main power switch on the side of the EDA, just at arms reach. I did this because of the elevator scene, and it was easier than having wires run though the gun hose. On the new packs I’m trying to build I’m indecisive as to having the main power switch in the gun or pack again. It was more for curiosity, which would you guys think would be better?
Uh…I have switches on the pack AND switches on the gun. Guess I’m a glutton for punishment…
Pack:
Switch on top of crank box turns on the LED sequencer.
Switch near bumper attachment turns on amp.
Knob near bumper attachment adjusts volume on amp.
Button under cyclotron activates Monster roar SFX.
Button under cyclotron activates Ghost SFX.
Switch under cyclotron activates Ecto-1 Siren.
Gun:
Button on ear activates pack vent sound.
Intensify switch powers up pack SFX AND turns on solid vent lights and cap lights on gun.
Activate switch fires gun.
Switch near yellow bar turns on pack hum SFX.
Button near that plays GB theme song in its entirety.
You should see the wiring nightmare…
Yup. I’m a ■■■■■■.
