I wish they would get started on some ghosts already, its too soon for a Peck, this line needs to build more. Gozer, Library Ghost, Vigo, Scoleri’s, etc…we need more than just pack-ins and variants. The figures come out slow enough as it is.

slime on peter - way too neon green and cartooney, like it belongs on a Kenner figure… shouldnt it match the slime on the SDCC Egon? and why would Venkman be smiling after he was slimed? this isnt the cartoon, matty…
new slimer - whats up with that tongue? I think I’d like it better if it was hanging down instead of covering half his face - plus we have 2 slimers now (unless you are one of the few who didnt get the SDCC Egon, in which case I have to wonder about your faithfulness to all things Ghostbusters) which is kind of lame
on the plus side the subway ghost looks good, and I like the labcoat Ray (good chance we’ll see Egon & Venkman with the same sculpt)
and of course the containment unit is awesome, and we get a new trap with it! not crazy about Peck, he looks pretty much the same as in the previous con photos so I dont know why there’s a delay…
still, even with these minor gripes, its better to see some progress than none at all, correct?

does that number include labcoat Ray, slimed Venkman and Peck?
Interesting…if it does, then my other 3 guesses, Gozer, Library Ghost and Janine. If Peter and Lab Ray do not count, then maybe throw Louis and Dana in there or another Ghost or 2. Prob no GB2 stuff yet.
To be honest, i think the Ghosts will be the top sellers of this line, people love buying monsters, fans or not of GB. I think the Library Ghost would be a top seller for Matty.

I too wish that the slime on Venkman was more subtle like Egon. It’s almost too much and as pointed out cartoony. The slimed Venkman should’ve been a limted special editon and have the first 6in Venkman be the unslimed one. As excited as I am at having all 4 guys, the slimed Venkman will look kinda out of place with the other 3 guys, kudos on the head and body sculpts for him though. I just wish that they would’ve released the slimed version later. As for the lab coat Ray, it too could’ve waited until the first round of regular figures we’re released. Dana or even Janine would’ve been more fitting. Now I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth, I’m just expressing my feelings as a collector who feels a little suckered by the way Matty Collector is handling their releases. I just hate the fact that we’ll have to wait several more months to get a normal Venkman. Playmates pulled this same move when the Star Trek: TNG figures first came out. The first Picard figure was in his Captain’s leisure outfit while the other crew were in their regular uniforms. The regular, latter season uniformed Picard didn’t come out for a couple of years after the first release and by that time the line had lost steam and made the figures harder to find. I just don’t want to see that happen here. Just my two cents.
Slimed Venkman: I agree that the slime looks off and personally I’m not excited about another Slimer pack-in. I might just buy one of these and wait for the unslimed version to buy a my regular order of 2 (one to keep in box and one to take out and display). And this criticism isn’t meant to come off harsh - but as a collector who has been buying two of each one, Matty has already pulled something to make me consider downsizing my order.
Peck looks good. I was really excited to get the CU and the delay sucks. (Personally, the “he wasn’t ready” excuse sounds like ■■■■ to me. With the gaps between figure releases in this line, I don’t see why he shouldn’t be ready. Certainly looks like Matty won’t reach it’s “figure every other month” self-set timeline goal).
Lab Coat Ray. I’m torn on this one. If we’re going to start doing varients of the GBs, I would have rather had a GBII Ray with Slime Blower. I think someone had a great idea above - if you want the commercial guys - issue them as a 3 pack. However, the subway ghost looks pretty cool and I would love to have one of those out to display. That and the sniffer might be enough for me to buy 2 to these. I’ll just have to see how the funds look at the time.
News of 6 new 6 inch figures in 2010. I would imagine at this rate, Peck, Slimed Pete, and Lab Coat Ray do count against the 6. So that leaves 3 more. If they really do want to expand past the 4 guys, some main ghosts would be nice.
The 12 inch figures: They look good. No big surprises after having Ray and Egon. I’ll buy these like I have been and then probably drop down to just 1 of whatever else they come out with to keep in the box.
I’m stoked about the Ray with Sniffer and Sub Way Ghost. For a long time that specter has always been my favorite. In fact all three figures look pretty promising, I am a little disappointed that in an entire year of development all they have to show is one new figure, but at least Ray’s head sculpt is legions better than the original. And perhaps a commercial version of Egon will be coming with his long over due PKE meter (wing in and out variations).
I still would really like a non-slimed Venkman and Spengler, though.
BTW, I really to like the Peter and Winston 12" figure headscults and paint ops far more then Ray and Egon.. they make up for those others in a way.. but they seriously need to make Peter’s pantlegs longer!
Didn’t one of Mattel Q&A Sessions mention a “new-scale” venture with the Ghostbusters previewing at Toy Fair ? Could it be that Mattel has more to show us in New York - or am I mis-remembering ?
Eh… I agree to a point. I am too thrilled to even have these, sure. But before being a Ghostbusters (or any IP) fan, I am a toy fan. So toys are srs bznss to me lol. I already have issues with Mattel before them being involved in Ghostbusters, so some grumpiness carries over. I am pretty sure at the mildly absurd price we pay for these compared to similar licensed property toy lines from them and other companies, we should be getting either more plastic (accessories or more unique tooling), or more quality (better production head sculpts, much less QC issues).
I will continue to be critical, because critical discussion of action figures (positive or negative) is part of the hobby for me. I will read every toy review I come across, even if I have no intention of collecting it. It jsut part of the hobby I enjoy.
I do think that $30 for labcoat Ray is pushing it, I would much rather drop $45 on a boxset of the three guys dressed like that at once.
I still really don’t see why these aren’t at least at TRU. TRU carries ever videogame figure NECA puts out, as well as GB minimates and the Stay Puft bank. I am sure they would have at least carried some Ghostbuster merchandise at least temporarily when the game was popular. Then these would be mass market $15 dollar figures, and I would be a lot less critical of them.
Same here.. if they weren’t exclusive, and twice the cost of regular figures, I won’t be near as critical of them, and would actually buy them.
Maybe they’ll extend the two pck toys r us thing, to Ghostbusters Vs He man.. some of the he man villians would make decent ghosts. (Oh, BTW, I saw new lady death/evil ernie/taboo minimates.. they’d make good ghosts for the minimate guys to bust!)
i think the next 2 lab coat figures should come in a two pack at least just too close out that series of the figures. bring on vinz clorthoe, gozer and the library ghost. then lets get into the gb2 styles( gbfans are gonna go crazy for the slime blower models) oh yea and posessed dana in red dress

Oh, that doesn’t seem fair. It was a limited release and the leftovers sold through pretty quickly. Just because someone didn’t feed the scalper machine on eBay (for a variant that isn’t even screen accurate) doesn’t make them any less of a fan than you.

Ya know, I wasn’t really planning to get in on the 12" figs…but now, with seeing Winston and Pete…I am really thinkin about it. Now with Ray NLA…how am I gonna do that!
I didnt “feed the scalper machine” LOL (this is also the reason I havent bought any of the Hotwheels ecto-1s on ebay either) but I was there at noon on the day they went on sale on mattycollector.com and bought 2 of them. you can still find them online (either ebay or other places) for a decent price ($20-40) so they’re not that rare.

Like everyone else I am not happy with the slim on Peter, but I will buy anyway with the hope this is for promotion of peter and wont be that way when i get it in the mail. I like the old slime peter from the prototype peter last year. Even though peter didnt use the goggles much I feel he should have them with him. just to note, the slime on peter look like UDDER ■■■■. But I need him to complete my line up so I am forced to buy
