Matty Collector Ecto-1 for Figures

Awww it didn’t sell? Who cares? It was overpriced and come on, its debut was a cardboard cutout, that should tell you all you need to know. I gotta start hunting down these He-Man Figures, Ghostbusters and He-Man where my childhood, maybe He-man a little more.

If the MOTU line consisted of nothing but Mego-style characters in cloth outfits, it wouldn’t be selling either. It’s the Four Horsemen. They favor stupid retro lines like He-Man and his furry man-■■■■■■■ and they don’t really care about modern DC or Ghostbusters.

Hm. Neither did the Ghostbusters line. It had a small collection of 4 ghostbusters, Janine, one ghost and 2 variants of one figure. Hardly enough to call a “line”. So…

Some of us enjoy the motuc line. It is a better sculpt, better than anything the 4h have ever done. It makes it’s sales because it delivers. The GB line did not, as you can see by the mountains of endless complaints from the same small group of people. I’m hard pressed to find a complaint about a FIGURE in the motu forums, than I am about mattel as a business. MOTUC collectors seem really happy with the product. I can find a crapload of endless bitching and complaining about the GB figures on top of mattel company complaints here; so little praise.

The rest of us enjoyed there was even a GB line to begin with. I have no doubts I am not alone with my sigh of relief something for people to complain about is done with and they’ll hopefully find something else to bitch about somewhere else sooner rather than later.

Sure, Mattel is a ■■■■■■ company with no idea how to cater collectible items to a fanbase, but if the fanbase is comprised of a bunch of mouth breathing neck bearded bitch and moans that have nothing nice to say for their product, why bother?

Does anyone know where I can find information on the Hoverboard drama with matty?

Thanks!

Its moments and conversations like this that makes me realize what the GB community is becoming. “THAT HAS THE GB LOGO ON WE ALL HAVE TO BUY IT AND SUPPORT IT NO MATTER WHAT!!! GHOSTBUSTERS IS BEST FANDOM!” Thats not the best way to look at it, the GB line from Matty was for the most part terrible. It had its ups and downs. But the MotU stuff is far better done.

(In before the flaming and the hate that makes me wanna walk away from GB for good.)

I can understand the complaining up to some point, but I’m overall gratefull that GB was given a chance & that I am able to have movie figures & toy props that I’ve been wanting since I first saw the movie/cartoons.

First off, He-man vs GB has been on like Donkey Kong since the sequel and we cant help that those little yuppy larva grew up to be sculptors.

Secondly, when your “props” are furry ■■■■■■■ and a foam sword, you aren’t so critical of the toys. I think the extent of DIYers here are talented but really concerned with the quality.

Also, wasnt He-man originally Mattel whereas RGB was Kenner?

Regarding He-Man versus Ghostbusters, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Mattel CREATE He-Man? So all the rights are theirs to begin with. The prices don’t have to be inflated to let them make a profit after the license-holder takes a cut.

With Ghostbusters, they have to share some of the pie with Sony. That no doubt contributes to the high prices, which are in my opinion what led to a great deal of customer dissatisfaction with the line.

Face it, if you bought a slightly inaccurate toy for $8, you’d say “Well, it was only eight bucks.” But buy a slightly inaccurate toy for $28, and it becomes, “You’d think for this price, they could get it right.”

With He-Man, they can make a better quality product because their profits are wholly theirs. But when they’re looking at that bottom line on Ghostbusters, suddenly it’s all about cutting a few corners.

That’s just my take on it.

Yep, He-Man was all Mattel.

As for the Ecto-1, while I would have loved to own it, the $200 plus price tag was a HUGE factor. I would have never shelled out that kind of money for it, and I am one of those people who will buy almost anything Ghostbusters as I have been a ■■■■■■■■ collector for 25 years.

Honestly? I’m happy they aren’t putting it out. As somebody said before it’s more money in my pocket. Money that can be used for other toys.

I wholeheartedly appreciate you expanding on my final thought on Mattel and He-Man. Well said!

I’m 100% totally with you, like I’ve already stated, I’m not a MOTU fan at all but the action figures made of the MOTU by Mattel look amazing, that’s an example of a toyline that was handled exceptionally well. I got so sick at looking at the Mattel Ghostbusters figures made so lack luster that I’ve actually sold them all

As someone who really genuinely wanted the Ecto-1 and took the **shockingly easy **step of pre-ordering, I would just like to say a HUGE THANK-YOU to every single one of you who whined and complained and didn’t pre-order, for ruining it for the rest of us. For years, people have been going on at Matty to make the car, then when Matty decide to look into it, we get:

‘HURRRR IT’S A CARDBOARD CUTOUT!’

The cutout was to give a sense of scale, the photo on it was to give an idea of the level of accuaracy they were going to aim for. And yet for some reason, you all seemed to decide that the cardboard cutout was what we were actually going to get! I despair, I really do.

Seriously…it took two seconds to preorder. You didn’t have to worry about paying for it for a year, and if the final model turned out to be a steaming heap of cack you could have cancelled your pre-order before the thing went on sale. Hell even if you didn’t want it at all, you could still have done the rest of us a favour and pre-ordered to guarantee production, then pulled out before they went on sale. But no. You all decided you were being asked to actually pay $200+ for a cardboard cutout. weren’t prepared to give Matty a chance to even make the thing, and have now screwed over those of us who did want it.

Thanks a bunch.**

Rob, you seem like a nice guy if a picture is worth a thousand words so I’m not going to be bitter, seriously bud, nobody in in God’s Green Earth thought that the Cardboard display was the final product. I live and breath Ghostbusters, I love this franchise. I’ve made a lot friends and enemies over the course of my four plus years as a Ghostbuster forumite, because of my intensity and passion, seriously, hear me out bud, nobody blew it but Mattel, you can’t show a piece of cardboard to people and expect them to throw over $200 at their feet. You also can’t tell people that you can get rid of features at any given moment if they see it fit and expect people to shell out over $200, Third of all, Mattel didn’t give enough time for the Ecto-1 meter to fill up and they flat out lied about keeping it open till November. Rob, If you really want to have the slightest of chances to have one of a kind Ghostbusters toys the only way that is going to happen is if Mattel ceased the Ghostbusters action figure license. Not many people trust Mattel after the hover board, castle grey skull and big lots ordeals and people got tired of digital river and the fact that we have an idiot as Ghostbusters brand manager. Don’t be upset at your fellow Ghostheads, be upset at Mattel.

I was really looking forward to this ecto-1 abs figures with removable packs!!

I’ve spent a small fortune on their line so far and this was what I wanted all along.

Stupid question but is there a petition to try get it back on track?!

There’s no petition as far as I’m aware… but if there was it wouldn’t matter.

A petition will not get a company to put in tens of thousands of dollars into tooling on a car that no one wanted to buy in the first place.

I’ll admit it. I do like some of mattycollectors stuff. I’ve only got a 6 inch figure and the pke meter tho. For some of it I do find that the prices are high but I guess that’s how it goes when they are the only ones making these toys and props. As for the ecto, ya it looked neat but I couldn’t see myself spending that much on it. As with the goggles. Ya they look neat but I’d rather put the money into building a pair that looked real. I do think they make great collector pieces tho but just to rich for my blood. And for dr. Rob to come on here and blame other gb fans for the ecto not coming out or ppl not pre ordering it , well, it’s not like we are the only ones buying their products. Hopes and dreams get flushed everyday. It’s life unfortunately its like the proton wand. I know of lots of people that would like to get one. Myself included. But since Marty offers this stuff to early access subscribers we don’t even know how long they will last. But I doubt ppl are gonna come on here and blame everyone for buying them all befor the sale goes to the general public. In my opinion the ecto must just not have been worth what they wee asking for it. Maybe down the line they will give it a go again. I think one could get a model ecto and add a sound board into it and it would almost be the same. Other options are out there. Just be creative. .

Mattel didn’t want to have to dump them at Big Lots for $20 a pop after the Faux pre-orders would inevitably be canceled and stick them with a warehouse full.

They should have honored their word and left the orders open till November and promoted the Ecto, hell all the extra traffic due to the Big Lots sell off could have helped sell this car. Most folks didn’t even know GB toys were being made let alone an Ecto 1 until they appeared at a Brick N Mortar. Another mis-step by Mattel. They really didn’t even put in a half-assed effort on laying out what their plan was regarding features other than “it rolls, and you need pack-less guys to drive it even though all figures to this point have non removable packs. Buy more!”

Curious that they have left up the page for the car under the epic creations line nearly 4 months after canceling plans to build the damn thing…more mind games by the Matty crew?

My bad. Could someone delete my second post and this post? Wasn’t ment to have gone on this thread.
