I got Exoray’s pack light kit and the powercell lights are blindingly bright if I mount them so that the round ends of the LEDs are facing outwards towards the lense. In order to try and dim it down a bit, I tried to turn them sideways. The brightness looks perfect at this point, however the board and LEDs end up being a quite a bit far away from the lense as I can’t fit the board in because of the ribbon cable connector.
Any suggestions on how to get it in closer towards the blue lense? Oh, I’m also trying to mount this within Exoray’s pack shell.
It would probably be easier to mount the light board properly and use an extra blue lense or 2 if you want to dim out the light. Otherwise it seems your going to have to break out the dremel and modify the inside of the shell a little.
you can also diffuse your blue lense by scuffing it with a scrubbing sponge. (or something of that nature) it will hide the leds and diffuse the light a bit.
those are all great ideas guys. I put a piece of parchment paper behind each of my pack lenses so people wouldnt complain on halloween.
when i had an exoray kit, i also had trouble getting the board to fit sideways so i settled for having it at a slight angle rather than completely sideways, then i hot glued the backside of the ribbon cable connector to the side of the powercell wall.
I only used a bit of hot glue so the cable would be easy to remove and pick the glue off if needed.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! I actually went ahead and went the route of kind2311’s advice and just wedged it in there at an angle. It doesn’t look bad at all and I didn’t have to do anything abrasive to the shell or the blue lense.
