Mounting options for the Spirit pack?

I know there have been a few different methods employed for mounting the pack to an A.L.I.C.E. frame, which I have yet to do (hopefully this week… First-ever non-Kenner pack, believe it or not). Frame is by Rothco. What’s worked for you? What tips do you have? T.I.A.

I would steer you towards Spongeface’s mounting kit. You can PM him here possibly or pick one up on Ebay. Just search for spirit pack mounting kit.

I’ve seen those and inquired, but he’s out of stock till November-ish.

I’ve cut a 6mm MDF motherboard, mounted the Alice frame to that with coach bolts, and then made some brackets using ikea bookshelf wall brackets and wooden blocks to attach the shell to the mobo. They’re a bit messy and don’t work as well as I’d like so I’ve ordered some 6mm aluminium angle and going to make some better brackets. I can pop some photos up if you’re interested to see what I’ve done so far.

That’d be great! Thanks!

So first off I cut a motherboard from 6mm MDF with a jigsaw. It’s not quite as an aluminium mobo would be as I’ve cut round the fins on the power cell etc, rather than going straight across.

I then cut some wooden blocks from some wood I had laying around. Routed out a hole through the length of the block for the metal ikea bookshelf bracket to slot into, and then hot glued the block into the pack shell

I ground down the “bolts” on the bumper and drilled new holes all the way through the shell and wooden block, I did another one a bit higher up like the hero packs too. I’ve just used some button head bolts then.

I measured on the mobo where the brackets lined up and drilled holes to affix the brackets to the mobo. Once I’d got them lined up I epoxy glued the nuts to the bracket, between the bracket and the wooden mounting block.

Before I mounted the mobo I attached the Alice frame with coach bolts, and a small black rubber doorstop between the frame and mobo at the top mounting point.

Once that was mounted I then bolted the mobo to the mounting brackets. My intent was I’d be able to undo the bolts attaching the shell to the wooden blocks, but that doesn’t work too well, so currently found it’s easier to undo the bolts through the mobo. I’m going to make some better brackets from 6mm aluminium angle and tap bolt holes properly.

Let me know if you want to know anything else!
