MRblahface Builds a Belt Gizmo.

So after being on these forums a year I decided to finally finish my belt gizmo. Yes finish. I started it last January, but I will get to that part in a bit. When I first came to this site the first belt gizmo build thread that I saw was The Rockman’s El cheapo build thread (located here TheRockman's (El Cheapo) Illuminated Belt Gizmo (Pic Heavy) - Uniforms - GBFans.com)and Kinda followed it at first but have seen other build threads and now this is gonna be a mix of alot of ideas. Any way, I used his idea and tried to get styrene but there I ran into the first problem, I didn’t know what styrene was at that time. (again searching would have showed me what it was). So not knowing, I was told a hobby shop by the folks in the chat room. So not having a hobby shop near me I decided that Micheal’s crafts would have probably have it right? WRONG! I went to michaels and looked around and asked around and the people there didn’t know or didn’t care. So I bought some foam board instead (same thing right?). So me and Wallaby decided we wanted to start a franchisee and wanted to meet, So we were going to meet at wallaby’s house and build gizmos and we did just that. Except he lives 45 mins away, and I was an hour and a half late and to put it all together I forgot the fricken foam board. So we had to go to target and I bought more foam board (I now have a ton of foam board that is not being used, well it is my cats are chewing it i should find a use for it i guess). we got started but never finished the foam board gizmos. Basically because Jay Stantz contacted us and wanted to join our franchises and we met and we got to building stuff with us. He had Nick-a tron kit gizmos, but he had only 2. So Wallaby traded a life gard and got a gizmo, Jay also built his gizmo, and I was gizmo less. I decided that I wanted to build it out of styrene(now knowing what it was) then but during that night where they build gizmos and what not I just sat there for no reason as i forgot the reason I sat there. but basically I did cut it out of styrene after an another get together and then it lay dormant for MONTHS until September some time. I took it out and started to build it. It wont look perfect or amazing but it will do its job, hang from my belt. I will post pics and show you some of the creative differences that I took. Sorry you had to read this as I have no idea why I typed a huge post as I now have to spell check it and post the pictures and what not.

Sorry for that long post if you wish to see pics of my build and pics of my cats please keep reading.

Of first here are the Foam board Gizmo that I didn’t Know I took a pic of.

and the daughter boards

Alright So after that I cut this out probably around February or so.

OK so after months of nothing I started to spray paint it, I bought some cheap .97 cent spray paint

I know its not the right color but I just got fed up and decided to just keep it as is.

Here is me spraying it

and finally is my cats looking out the downstairs door, Now why am I showing cats in a build thread because I want to and they have done things to ghostbusters props you would cringe over. But more on that later.

Well that is that for this SUPER LONG POST. Hopefully more updates soon.

Alright Here is some more progress on my build.

This is me looking all creepy and safe.

This is me cutting or taking a pic what I am trying to cut. If you can see here I took some of that sticky printer paper and put it on the styrene, big mistake! I should have printed it on normal paper and traced it but oh well.

and after I cut the peices out.

and a root beer float.

Skipping a head I took the main board and decided to drill it out.

you can see on the left, the bottom and top I drilled every hole and on the right I drilled every other hole. Problem here was i got tired of drilling and the drill died. so it looks weird.

what I did then was this I took paper clips and bent them and stuck them in, then cliped of the back and hot glued them. I got that idea from jack doud. I dont know where the other pictures are, so that it for now.

Also is there a good way or easier way to cut styrene? Because it is really hard to cut.

Looking good so far!

I think people have recommended using a dremel, if you have one available. Otherwise I think you’re stuck with hobby knife or other cutter.

stick with the knife you have or swap to a utility knife. a dremel can get away from you faster than one of them.

I have a dremel but not 100% how to use it/ what bit to use. I tried to use it and made a mess of a piece of styrene.

… Yep.

Another cool build, nice techniques!
