Thanks, It’s been a while since anyone posted anything in the first thread that I didn’t see it on the front page and I’m not sure if there’s any rule here when it comes to necroposting.
Hmmmm, Well lets see. Not counting the paint and electronics…
The backpack was used and free, an added waist strap cost around $2.00
The cutting board that makes up the motherboard cost $7.00. It’s made of teflon so it’s fairly durable.
Varios Boxes that make up the upper half of the pack cost from $1.00 - $6.00
Couple of play dough containers around $1.00 each.
Tubeing cost around $5.00 or more from Canadian Tire. Larger tubeing I salvaged from an Old washer(I think, it was anyway. Most of it was already stripped).
Four small Flashlights around a $1.00 each.
Microwave food cover (Cyclotron) I think was $3.00
Metal strip for the bumper was around $1.00
Screws cost around $2.00 a pack. Everything is held on with screws.
Body of the thrower is made from plastic, like the stuff used in models and I had that laying around.
Thrower barrel was from a water pistol that cost around $3.00 I think, I can’t remember exactly.
Hand grip was from Canadian Tire, bike section and cost around $5.00.
Various Knobs and such I already had. So the total of this build, raw materials alone : no more than $60.00. I can’t give an exact number cause I can’t remember the exact prices of some of the items I bought, but none of it was expensive. I think the Lazer Zapper I used for lighting was $2.50, the Chaser Circuit was around $9.00 (I think) and two LED Tea lights cost around $2.00 each. And I already had some Flat Black paint so I didn’t have to buy more.
How long did it take you to make it?
All and all 60 is int bad for a “My first pack”. Maybe if you get going you can maybe build a pack thats more accurate. Have fun with it.
Took about a month, working on it on and off.I was also working on a Ghost Trap at the same time. I could’ve rushed things along but I wanted to make it as good a quality as I could. Since this was the first one I built I’ve started calling it the Mark 1, and building a more accurate pack is definetly something I want to do someday.

I appreciate your pack. The first Ecto I built was made when the only power tool I owned was a drill, so I appreciate these non-canon scratch builds. I hope it’s strong enough to withstand Halloween!

No worries there, I made sure I made it strong enough to last more than one Halloween. I’m glad you can appreciate my first build and I have to say you used one power tool more than I did. All I had were hand tools.
