I’d like to share with everyone my massive Real Ghostbusters costume undertaking! Made over the course of 7 MONTHS, from January to July 2011, I built enough equipment to arm five Real Ghostbusters (the fifth being Janine)! I used many screen shots from the series, as well as the production prop sheets included in the DVD special features as reference, and used the movie Pack guides posted on this website (thanks, guys!) as a basis for measurements. My buddies and I cosplayed as the Real Ghostbusters at Otakon 2011, and let me tell you, the response was AMAZING! Why the Real Ghostbusters? Well, it’s not as commonly seen as the movie Ghostbusters! Plus, I thought it fit into the theme of an anime convention nicely! And also, I had gotten the DVDs for Christmas and was inspired lol. So, without further ado, here are the progress pics AND the end results of our uniforms!

Pierre was a big hit! Everyone was very impressed to see “an actual black guy,” as many conventioneers said.

Me! Everyone seemed happy to see Ray! Lol maybe because I was the only one who said any lines!
Peter!
Played by my buddy Zach, who doesn’t love Dr. Venkman? While not looking too happy in moat of the photos, he did seem to enjoy himself, I swear! And he was always happy to explain to curious passers-by about how he rigged the pack’s lights!
Egon!

My pal Mike. As you can guess, Dr. Spengler was a smash. A couple people ONLY wanted a picture of Egon. Unfortunately, Mikey’s a big cosplayer, so he had multiple cotumes to wear, so we only had Egon for about 3 and a half hours… But, gotta give him props for being the only one who had to put up with wearing a wig!
Janine!

My sweet friend Danielle. Possibly bigger than Winston, Janine had heads turning. “OMG you NEVER see Janine!” many people said. One guy even thanked her for wearing the full uniform and not the “booty shorts” of the femal Ghotbusters costume from Party City.
And last but not least, Slimer!
My sister Julia. Kind of a last-minute idea, I drew Slimers face in Adobe Illustrator and printed it out on iron-on t-shirt transfers and stuck on a t-shirt (obviously). I was afraid people would think it was just a shirt, but most people got that she was actually SUPPOSED to be Slimer! The image sadly faded throughout the day (mostly due to bag straps rubbing against it). We are going to craft her a more costumey Slimer costume.
