Although this is an altered image (Winston and Stephen King - on Ray’s body? - were added), it seems to be based on a deleted scene photo I haven’t seen before. Egon tinkering with the equipment while at the table eating with Ray and Peter:
Has anyone ever seen the original, and can provide a copy of it?
I asked a few people, and it was new to them, too.
I looked for a contact link for the author on the article page…
…to ask him directly, but the best I could do is a Twitter link, and that 140 character limit would kill any chance of asking him directly.
Stephen King and Winston seem to have been added, of course, but this being a deleted scene? I don’t know… this seems to be part of the “chew your food”… what differences do you notice? If you watch the movie, Egon WAS tinkering the equipment during the scene… or maybe my mind played tricks on me… again.
I’m kind of depressed to see images of deleted scenes that haven’t been released. Before I got on here I’d never heard of the deleted scene where Egon keeps correcting the Realiter about the measurements of the firehouse. Or this one in this topic. I really wish we could get these scenes on a Ghostbusters release along with the ones in Ghostbusters 2.
I thought it was a deleted scene because I never remembered seeing Egon tinker with the equipment in the movie - and I think I also mentally associated it with the legit deleted scene images of Egon working on some equipment (found at http://www.theraffon.net/~spookcentral/gb1_deleted.htm).
As it turns out, Egon DID work on a neutrona wand while Peter and Ray were enjoying their magnificent feast. I just never paid attention to him, probably because he didn’t have any dialog.
I take some consolation in knowing that two other fans I work with (I don’t know if they want to be named or not) also didn’t pick up on it being in the final film either. That makes me feel so much better. Maybe my mind isn’t going after all
Yeah, I was too busy with holiday stuff, relatives, and outdoor projects to double check that scene and check for a match up. In that scene, I always tend to focus on only Peter and Ray and their discussion.
This actually reminds me of many years ago when I was penpals with a guy who would later go on to write Star Wars reference books.
He made a reference to “Porkins’ Y-wing” and I wrote back, “Y-wing? That’s odd, I thought Porkins was an X-wing pilot” and in his next letter he was extremely embarassed about crossing his wires, and all but begged me to burn the original letter lest anyone ever find out he’d made such an error.
We eventually fell out of contact about the time he became ‘famous’, and every time I saw his guidebooks in stores I would chuckle wondering if there was another Porkins’ Y-wing boo-boo in there.
The image was a screencap from the movie, I used content-aware scaling to make the frame taller like the picture in the OP. I then hit it with a few noise filters to make it look like the picture in the OP.
Thanks, I figured that out a bunch of posts ago. Like a few others in here I was thrown by it and didn’t realize it was just a black and white version of a still. If it was in color it may have jogged a memory but alas, maybe not.
