I think it’s 1/4 inch think. I would have done it myself but couldn’t easily secure the MDF sheet. Plus, I had a $25 off coupon from eBay which made the decision for me. 
I will say the cutting on the one I receive was top notch. I really like how it fits the pack and have no plans on changing it anytime soon.
UPDATE:
I decided I wanted a more stock look for the injector tube wire, so I used the end that came with the pack instead of the standard wire tip.
Much better I think.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE:
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to run in Single, or Dual Pack Mode so I wired a little switch to the jumper so I wouldn’t have to open the thing up every time I wanted to change the setting.

Okay, here’s another update. I didn’t like how the neck pad ended up. First the soft foam ripped and tore around the straps so I tried to fix the problem by wrapping the foam in electrical tape. I never really liked that option so I ran down to the hardware store and purchased the smallest pipe insulator I could find. It fits and looks much better and if I ever have to replace it, I have another 6 feet just sitting in the garage.
I’m loving how the whole pack turned out. Last mods include adding true wire mesh to the N-Filter and LED for the venting sequence. I’m also currently throwing around a few ideas to cover the old speaker holes without filling and repainting. I have discourage any thoughts of a full repaint from the get go, and after completing all these mods I really don’t want to have to take everything off just to cover the speaker holes.
I’ll post up a video soon showing how all the toggles and push switches work. Until then, have fun with your mods.

Back in September I bought a Spengler Wand. Now I have a jumpsuit, belt, gizmo, torch, hose on the way, spirit goggles, custom name tag that I learnt to sew on, black gloves, and some belt bits.
I’ve also picked up a spirit pack, ALICE frame, and the GhostLab42 bracket set.
For now it seems like plenty. But unless Hasbro make a plasma series pack, I don’t think there’s any point denying that I’ll want to at lest cosmetically work on the pack.
I can’t wire, and haven’t used a soldering iron since I was 14 (I’m 35 now). So electronics is unlikely. But seeing all you can do without spending £1000 on a pack? I might change my tune.
There are a couple of kits on the market (spongeface on this forum, frankengeek on Facebook) that are plug and play with the Spirit pack, no soldering required.
Oh! Well then that could be extremely handy!
I’ve got the pack onto the frame now, which was a struggle (bent frame). But it’s on for now. I need some foam, and then I’d like to look at connecting my Spengler wand, which will let me give the Spirit/Rubies wand to my daughter.

Hello from the UK. I’ve acquired a Spengler Wand and have a Rubies Proton Pack on order with BigBadToyStore so I’m really interested in how you hooked up the audio plugs. Do you have any more detailed instructions on how you did that. Over time I intend to add the light and sound upgrade and possibly wire up the audio from the Spengler Wand to the pack. I’ve only just started on this journey and there is so much info that it can be a little overwhelming at time - and some things are quite as easy here in the UK. Looking forward to seeing what else you do.
Nice mods! Looks amazing! Curious about your battery charging ports. I want to add USB ports to mine, or retractable cord, undecided are this point.
Forgot to post up a few more mods… a nice generator crank knob cover for a more realistic look as well as replacing all the stickers with ones that look warn.
