Non-rubber gloves anyone?

After 3 days in my GB suit I’ve come to the conclusion that I hate wearing rubber gloves. Sure I love the look of them, but lets face it, as soon as you put them on your hands sweat. Not to mention they make you hands smell like rubber. So I was thinking of getting some leather gloves similar to these:

I’d get them modified so they wouldn’t flare out like flight gloves. I think they might be more confortable to wear then rubber ones. Any opinions?

Yeah but the rubber gloves are accurate…

Most chemical gloves come with cloth liners to help offset this problem, but honestly, my gloves just stay tucked in my belt

I like wearing my gloves. And as far as it not being screen accurate, I’m not screen accurate and I’m not trying to get my outfit to be.

By no means am I trying to be a ass,but why not try to get as close as accurate as possibly? To me I always try to get at least 99% that means if have to wait on a pack or trap part six months I’ll do it. It’s just funnier being accurate.

Valid question. In the past I’ve always tried to get as close to screen accurate as possible. I have a complete Indiana Jones costume going so far as to buy the $1200 bullwhip from the Australian supplier for the first 3 films. I have a Bespin Luke Skywalker costume that my wife made which is accurate all the way down to the stitches. But with my GB costume I decided to make the outfit I’d wear if I was hired by a local chapter of the global franchise. I chose black elbow pads because I like them better than the grey ones. My walkie-talkie isn’t an 80’s model. My PKE meter is more RGB than film version. I have no leg hose because I feel that it looks silly and doesn’t appear to do anything. I’ve spent a lot on the costume–$2600 on the proton pack alone (we’re ■■■■■, double income, no kids) and I’m not done. Next year I’m getting a dark grey flight suit from G&B and maybe a trap. So in this case screen accuracy losses out to comfort and personal preference, but not so much that what I end up with is unidentifiable, just modified.

Some come with seperate cloth gloves, but the “good” expensive stuff do have cloth bound to the inside of the glove.

I used to work in a printing press on huge 15 man web printers, and I probably burned through a hundered pairs of them over the years.

ive never seen black rubber chemical gloves for more than 5 dollars. i dont see anything about them being an issue other than price. personally i think the ones that are cloth gloves with rubber glopped over them look like shit, the ones that are just enhanced dishwashing gloves are better looking.

Gah! 100 bucks? That’s a bit steep just to avoid smelly hands. Just keep a bottle of Purel in your flight suit. It kills the smell, and in a pinch, can double as ectoplasm to give your uniform that worn-in look.

just make sure the local franchise will let you troop with them with a non accurate/cannon costume.

but i feel ya on the hose.

jesus, i ignored the link in the first post.

YOU’RE NUTS if you buy from magnoli clothiers. those prices are just ridiculously expensive.

if that local franchise doesnt let you troop with them because you’re not accurate or cannon, it shouldnt have any problem finding someone much more fun to hang out with. they should want to help you become accurate if accuracy is an issue, rather than turn you away.

i assume you’re talking about arizona? screw them man.

no. i was talkign in general. I don’t know how other franchises are run, but I would assume that you should, try and be accurate or at least match the other busters.

Arizona GB’s have been very helpful to everyone I know who wants to be involved, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

Agreed!

I think that if some frasnchise doesn’t want you because your gloss black gloves are leather instead of rubber, then go find someone better.

I’m really just trying to find gloves like the ones used in GB2 during the final battle. They’re much longer and beefier looking than the others, and that’s the look I like.

i was talking more about the pack…but yes I would agree.

i was talking about everything.

Fun > Accuracy

Costume for yourself. Don’t costume for anyone else. If you like something better than what’s accurate, go for it, and to hell with anyone who gives you grief.

Our franchise doesn’t have strict accuracy requirements. Hell, we don’t even require a flightsuit. Ghostbusters t-shirt? You’re in. It’s about getting out and having fun, not standing around comparing hex screws and nitpicking each other.
