On Norm’s proton pack plans, specifically on page 9, he’s making the handles for the particle thrower out of a bottle of Gumout. Is this the 20 oz bottle, or the smaller 12 oz. (I believe) size?
I’m thinking the 12 oz. size may not need cut down to fit a 1” piece of PVC.
Thoughts?

I built mine off of Norm’s plans. I didn’t use the Gumout method. I found 99cent dust pans at Walmart with handles that look the same. Cut them off and I screwed them but you could glue them. They have some tabs on the inside that can cut or grind out and they fit pretty good. You would need to fill in the ends if you are going for almost exact accuracy. I didn’t fill them in. Ran out of time before halloween.
Norm’s plans referred to the smaller bottles. The larger Gumout bottles didn’t come in that style until a few years after his plans were released. I remember first seeing them long after I had already built my own Gumout bottle grips.
From what I’ve seen lately, though, Gumout seems to only come in smaller, cylindrical, “super-concentrated” bottles anymore. If you’ve found some of the grip-style bottles, snap them up.
