Thrower Advice and Pickup Projects

Long time lurker, first time poster/builder here!

I've inherited a beautiful GB1 pack and am in the process of installing electronics and preforming preventative maintenance on the shell/wand etc. In the process I'd managed to irreparably break the original "twist grip pipe" and subsequently split another spare while I was cleaning mold flash off of the rear ear...

There’s a 80% complete pop mech already installed that I’m filling into operation and, in GB1 fashion, the Front Grip’s twisting motion is essential. I predict that this is a high mileage part. (Mileage up to and including bumping the gun off of doorways at comic book conventions.)

I’m not crying out for solicitation exclusively, but if anyone’s got a TIG welder and a mill laying around, I’m thinking that I might want to invest in a more bulletproof material than resin for this particular piece. Otherwise, any advice on how to strengthen/treat thinner resin casts?

I wonder if any of FreekyGeeky’s metal parts would be compatible? If it’s not in stock you can try getting on his waitlist but you might get lucky. Hopefully it wouldn’t require replacing the entire assembly, it depends on the tolerances I guess (and whether your inner tube fits inside his metal front barrel). Could be worth reaching out.
