Howdy all,
Here’s my 90% complete “stunt” trap.
…based on V71’s plans
Now I know it’s not a done thing, but…
be BRUTALLY honest!
Any good? Any improvements? Looks like ■■■■??
Let me know! I’ll never learn otherwise…![]()

G’day mate…Well I reckon it’s looking really good!! Tell us a bit more about your building process, what materials have you used etc…Oh and keep us updated with more pics as you progress.
Keith
Howdy Cous,
It’s primarily MDF, what some call panelboard.
6mm thick all over, except the side walls on the holder, which are 9mm.
Wooden dowel for the handle.
I used the V71 plans, which was an education as all our measurements here are centimetres, not inches!
At least I have more of an understanding of the measurements my Dad babbles about..lol
I’ve looked at quite a few traps here, & after re-looking at mine, the first thing that springs to mind is “The doors sit too low”. Anyone else think so??
Hoping to get this finished for Xmas, so i’ll keep you all updated.
Keep the critique coming, gang!
looks awesome! Mdf is the way to go. Can you believe that some people actually use cardboard?! it’s so ridiculous!
good job bud.
Looks awesome OZSpook if you’re making it for xmas feel free to leave it under my tree ![]()
Cheers, Unicorn!
But don’t knock the paper/cardboard ones either… I’ve seen your work! Impressive!!
Ode2, next time i’m in your neck of the woods, I might leave you one on the doorstep! ![]()
be better than those flamming bags I keep getting
Ha! you got me. ![]()
It does indeed look awesome, but cardboard works great for traps. I have a cardboard trap and it’s basically a tank.
Oz I noticed that, but thought it was just “Your” way of building, I mean there is no wrong or right way, there is only what “You” want it to be…
Ha, yeah I was brought up on feet and inches, but the UK went Metric years ago…there are still quite a few of us old gits who use both now. Funny thing is I use feet/yards/miles for large measurements, but for very small fine work I use Millimeters, crazy eh!
6mm MDF same as my Trap…makes it heavy but solid right.
Keith
That trap looks very slick, Oz. Congrats.
I think I’m gonna make mine a “stunt” trap as well. Really it’s just decoration for the utility belt, and making the doors open and close is too much of a brain-f**k.
oh yeah, I was messing around, I build all my stuff with cardboard…And love the material. ![]()
edit, ■■■■ that was meant to be a pm.
Nice work. Only thing I could pick would be the side panels being too high, or as you said yoru self the doors being too low.
Made one my self from foam core.
