So something I’ve been noticing for a long while now is that, even though people have incredibly beautiful proton packs, people tend to have their light sequence not 100% accurate.
What I mean is this: If you pay attention to the sequencing patterns in GB1, you’ll notice that for each full rise of the powercell lights, the cyclotron cycles two out of it’s four lights. I have yet to see a single proton pack that does this at the correct pace and timing.
Am I the only one who has noticed this, or is it common knowledge but it just isn’t something anyone else cares about?

Most of the kits I’ve seen have speed setting for both patterns.
I know. I remember working with a buddy of mine to get his timing right, but with those tiny potentiometers it gets a little difficult to nail the speeds.
I don’t think you can get 100% accurate..All the packs in gb1 seem to have been timed differently to me from what I’ve seen. The cyclotron lights moved both clockwise and counter clockwise as well.
I’m trying to find a clip that shows it in other scenes, but I know for a fact that Ray’s pack in the Sedgewick scene has that exact pattern of two cyclotron lights per powercell rise. It might just be his pack, akin to how only one of the other packs has the backwards cyclotron lights. I believe it’s Winston’s pack, as can be seen on the rooftop sequence.
I think most program it to be 1 cyclotron light for every rise.
Well, I doubt even individual packs hold their settings 100% throughout filming. The timing is set by resistance, so as temperatures rise and fall under lamps and such, you can actual affect the stepping of the circuits.
That said, different packs have different electronics. Hell, there’s at least one GB2 pack where the powercell runs upside down.

Because the stunt packs are never seen from behind in GB2.

It’s actually a semi-hero, not a stunt; Jack misspoke, but you still never see the pack in question in the film, at least lit.
