So I had heard that guitar stands make great pack stands, so I picked one up for about 10 bucks. It worked perfectly except for one thing; the top strut basically fell center on central cross member of the alice pack, causing the thing to bend in a rather narly fashion. I wanted to eliminate this pressure point, so I built a bracket that supports the pack off the motherboard from 1/4" square stock, a piece of flat bar and some clear tubing. It’s held to the stand via 2 socket cap screws.
I wound up having to tweak the top a bit, not pictured here but I bent it backwards slightly to angle the support.
It fits! More importantly, the alice pack frame’s struts aren’t taking the weight anymore, let alone touching anything.
