I was just curious if anyone on here has ever had, a paranormal experiance or ever went ghost hunting.
yes, My wife and I have gone ghost hunting around our home town and once went to the Crescent hotel in Eureka springs, Ark. I’ve never seen a ghost, but my wife and mother in law have seen ghosts in the past. We always take EVP’s on hunts and we have recorded some scary ■■■■. I’m most definitely a believer after hearing disembodied voices responding to our conversations on these recordings. I heard one in eureka springs with my ears, no voice recorder. Never caught one on camera yet.
Yeah I’m trying to get a few people around here to go on a ghost hunt, there is supposed to be a church, that is supposed to be haunted. A preacher hung himself in the bell tower and you can hear crying inside the church and supposedly see a black mass figure, in a window. I’m just trying to figure out how I can get the permisson form the church to check it out, with out looking stupid.

I am a Case Manager and Investigator for the Minnesota Paranormal Study Group (MNPSG), and we are a certified TAPS Family Member, for those of you who are familiar with the SciFi channel show, Ghost Hunters.
I’d like to encourage all amatuer/beginner investigators to keep a few things in mind. First, be courteous. Be courteous to any person you may meet, and be courteous when you are conducting your investigations. You wouldn’t want a stranger to be rude to you, and a potential spirit probably doesn’t want it either. Second, if you can, take a digital voice recorder with you. They can pick up sounds or voices that the human ear can’t always; and if you DO hear something, you can verify it by double checking the recorder. Third, take as many pictures as you want, but remember that a picture is worth 1000 words. You may see a mist and assume it’s paranormal when it realy may have been breath. There are many scenarios. Fourth: debunk. Try and find a logical reason for the alleged activity. If you hear scraping sounds, is there a tree scraping on the roof? If you hear a slam or a clunk, try and find the source and recreate it; then determine why it may have made that noise.
The paranormal field can be perceived in two ways: genuine and fake; evidence can be the same thing. It’s up to the investigator to make sure that what they have found is paranormal before they can present it as such.

YES SIR! Yeah I got one of them, I can’t wait to try it out. got a couple of cameras that we’re going to take. I’m trying to get something togther about going up to waverly hills sanotarium(sp)?, this coming summer.
Awesome! I’ll definatley check it out. but let me ask you this, how would I go about getting the permison from the church to investigate it ? cause I don’t want to trespasse or anything like that,cause most of the activitly happens outside.
Is there a must for it to be digital? I mean, wouldn’t an analog recorder (a.k.a. tape recorder) be as good??
yes tape works well too, however, digital offers a few advantages…
- easy download to computer
2 . you can search and skip thru your sound files since most digital recorders file recordings in folders.
- delete recordings that have no evp, save space
in addition, I recommend having a separate detachable mic. it’s higher quality sound and the built in mic picks up thumps to the recorder or your fingers/hands just holding it.
the first time you ever hear an evp…that’s one of those oh sh** moments! everyone should try it out.
Well I believe in the paranormal. I’ve had a couple of paranormal experiences and so have my friends. Plus we live in a very historical area so I’m not surprised. I’ve yet to go ghost hunting but i do plan on going on one day. And as an avid watcher of SciFi Channel I’m a very avid watcher of Ghost Hunters and GHI.
From what I’ve learned via the net and watching the shows on TV, enchanted unicorn is right.
Your best advice is to contact either the church, usually works better in person, and if you can’t get through there, try city hall, or contacting the law enforcement. Alot of times, alerting the law enforcement is a good idea, simply because it lets them know your working alongside them to eliminate trespassers.
Another advantage to using a digital recorder over analog is clarity. A cassette tape often times will get work out, or become thin, and the sound quality turns very grainy, at best. I know that a digital voice recorder can be found at Wal-Mart for around $30, though they usually don’t have a USB access port. In order to upload it to your computer, you’ll need that access port.

we’ve gone hunting in 3 different cemeteries but never picked up anything on tape or photo. The voice recordings are never good due to wind and various background noises. We have the best luck inside homes etc where it is quiet. The dead tend to speak softly. We never got permission, but were always prepared with I.D.s and a friendly attitude in case we were stopped. You could go to their church on a Sunday and wander around the quieter places in the bldg. see what turns up. That may be considered unethical to some.
The best place I’ve gone evp-ing (?) is in my wife’s grandmother’s house. Some freaky stuff goes on in there. Apparitions back in the 60’s and 70’s, x-mas ornaments being re arranged a few years ago. dogs barking at nothing. evp’s that curse at you. a family member showing up the night of their death, in bed next to my wife’s aunt. banging on walls, whispering, a shadow on the wall behind my wife .she saw it thru the bathroom mirror. there was her shadow behind her, and another shadow that was taller and bigger. you know, typical stuff!
Dang I would defiently like to check out your grandma in laws house sounds pretty cool.
My grandmother’s house also has a spirit or two. The oldest one, dubbed the “lady in black” is, as far as we can tell, friendly. My grandmother, my mom and myself have all seen her)–the sightings are decades apart but all our descriptions matched. Typically she only appears to females in the house.
There was also a second presence that nobody’s detected lately; all we know is that it was male, maybe “newer” than the lady, and decidedly unfriendly. It seems to have vanished completely in recent years.
I haven’t tried to get EVPs yet; the house might be going up for sale so I should try soon…the problem would be getting the area quiet enough to pick up anything useful.
If I was you, I would defintley try doing some evp work. Cause you never know what you might get. were supposed to go out to some grave yards that are on this mountain its way out it the boonies, nobody ever hardly goes up there it used to be a old logging road, so were going to give it a shot, I’m still working on the church thing.
the topic of ghost is fascinating. Part of me would love to see one, but Ireally wouldn’t want to because I’d be scared to death. how about oijja boards? any opinions?
