Okay, so I can live without no Dana Barrett and definitely no Louis Tully…but what worries me is the comment about it focusing on “the four Ghostbusters” solely. It’s troubling because there are those of us who do fall in the Egon/Janine camp and while it’d be no doubt that she’s in it, I can’t help but wonder if we’ll see any of that in this comic.
I’ve always thought she was one of the story problems with GB2, along with Janine and Louis getting together. While she didn’t harm the movie.. would have been better if strange things were happening to someone else.
That.. and it is laid out exactly the same way. Dana comes to them looking for help.. rising action.. montage.. rising action.. climax. roll credits with theme song. I would have loved to see something that wasn’t essentially a rehash of the same format.
But otherwise GB2 is a good film.
I’m just glad with things like the Video Game and this Comic breaking the routine..
Oh don’t get me wrong. When I said earlier about Dana, I mostly meant as some kinda love interest for Peter to fawn for if they were going to have them be together after GB2. Not really make her integral to the plot at all, but just as the romantic interest. Nothing more. Nothing less.
the same things Dan did with Blues Brothers 2000: out of jail, Penguin, reforming the band, some gigs around USA, problems with police and nazists (or russians), final show, escape.
LMAO! I’m excited about this and about Dana, I think the biggest reason that she was still around wasn’t because her character was strong so much as Sigourney Weaver is such a great actress. Because it was her playing the role of Dana I think that necesitated the inclusion of Dana into GBII. But I liked GBII, yeah it had the same format, there’s no arguing that, but it had a good story and I liked it a lot.
As I mentioned on PC, I’m fairly skeptical of the new book. I don’t particularly like the cover art, and I’m wary of them running too far w/ the whole “dark” thing (a la TDK).
As much as Seb was an utter scumbag, the 88mph product was exceptional…his team did a great job, despite the captain of the ship. If these new books are comparable, fantastic! But until I see a finished product, I remain slightly hesitant.
Hearing the news of the Ghostbusters supposedly dying in the first issue, I have to admit I’m a little more hesitant myself now. I agree with you completely that I’m now worried about them taking the “darker” approach a little too far. I don’t want to see one of our beloved Ghostbusters actually wind up dead for good. Obviously, I assume that it won’t last for long, so whatever is done to bring them back, it better bring them all back.
To be honest, though, that does bring up kind of a problem with that storyline. How can they pull that off without it just being ridiculous? I know it doesn’t have to be 100% realistic, but that sounds like it could end up being really lame. I’m still excited to see it either way, though. I’m hoping it will be really good.
