booth looks great. cant wait to be there saturday.
Last night was preview night the the Phoenix ComiCon. With the convention being in a much larger space, preview night was packed. We still didn’t have our full booth set up but it was still a huge hit. We have a sound system set up to play a GB music mix and our good friend Vigo sitting in the back to watch over us. He’s a very popular guy for being so evil. We wore our grey suits out since almost all of our team has them now. We also got to meet Pooptart from Wilcox, AZ. The rest of the weekend is going to be great.

Is this for a costume or are we just paraphrasing lyrics from a Warren Zevon song? BTW, I saw a werewolf in Trader Vic’s last night. His hair was perfect.
Jeff, you and the AZ crew are having too much fun.
Post as many pics as you can. I really respect this effort. I was worried when I saw you were in the corner of the floorplan but with a booth that looks as eye-catching as that, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Those logos and banners turned out perfect. The Vigo painting is a real attention getter. ( Please tell me it’s not from the Hotshot run. ) ![]()
Side note: I have one of those GB logo banks from Diamond Select. It got turned it into a GB sign on a lamp-post. I always thought this would be a perfect item for a booth. The only problem is that it was cast in red plastic so when it lights up it looks pink. ( Which is understandable - they never built it with the intention of someone making a sign out of it. ) I’m thinking of making a vacuform over it in white plastic to make a more proper light-up GB logo sign. Just thought I’d throw that out there if the info could help you guys as well.
The baskets are extremely cool. I can’t quite see clearly, what’s in there?
I am really in awe Jeff. I have 0% creativity to think of stuff like this for Cons. The sad thing is that I have a really strong need to do this but don’t know where to begin. ( Life is an RPG and I put my mana into building stuff and trying to manage my life. I got nothing left for planning events or thinking of cool things like this. ) One of these days I’m hoping you’ll make a post about “How to hold an event” or something. What to do, what to give out, what’s a good idea, what’s a bad idea, etc. You’ve blazed massive trails for us all but given the same scenario, I would have no idea where to start.
Thanks. Well we brought the sound system so if they can’t us, they’ll darn well hear us. Vigo is really a big help as well. He can be seen from a mile away. Some kids have been downright frightened of him. Alot of people are making kitten jokes, so there’s alot more GB2 fans out there then many may think.
My hair comment was an obscure reference to the story Ramis told in the GB1 commentary about Murry telling him his hair was perfect during his wedding. Ronan’s (slimer28) never has a hair out of place. Must be using Soul-Glo or something.
Tonights big events are the Zombie Walk and Zombie Beauty pageant.
Looking good. I particularly like that you all have one shade of grey for your flightsuits - that goes a long way to show that you’re one team!
Goodluck guys, looks like it’s going to be an awesome convention this year. ![]()
Just got back from the second night. The Zombie events went perfect. I didn’t get many pics from them but we did get video taken at them and hopefully we’ll have them soon. The night was topped off by playing “Ghostbusters” on Rock Band with Wil Wheaton. Before we started he told his story about building a proton pack as a kid out of cardboard and using Megatron in gun mode for a wand. The raffles and silent auctions also went great. I’ll post the pics after the weekend is over.
Sorry I lied, here’s a couple of pics that got sent to me:
Spotted during the Zombie Walk:

During Wil Wheaton Rock Band:

The video of Rock Band has hit youtube. Several versions actually. I think this one is the best one. I’m afraid we’re not super animated on stage as it had already been a long day. This was filmed at midnight but it was still an awesome experience.
I think my group needs to take a que from you guys with the merch. That’s so freaking cool that you got to play Rock Band with Wil Wheaton! I <3 me some Wesley Crusher.
Jeff, Matt and Phil…you truly rocked it out very well with Wil. It was good to see members who didn’t get to do it the year before.
I cannot tell you how much of a blast it was to be apart of the whole weekend. I will let Jeff inform how much we raised for CF, which by Saturday’s count shocked me in a good way. The Zombie walk was a fantastic experience thanks to the help of the Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors. The group really pulled together for this one and cruised down the streets capturing some great moments on camera. Here is a link to azcentral.com covering the event. I am sure we will have a plethora of photos and video in the coming days.
Enjoy!

Thanks Neal. The weekend went great. The entire team did an outstanding job. I’m very happy to report we were able to have the Ecto-AZ at the con all day Sunday outside the front doors.
I didn’t even try to count at the zombie walk but I’m happy the newspaper got a count of over 100. We’ll having an even bigger one with the city in the fall. We didn’t get many photos ourselves so I’m glad there’s a photo gallery out there.
I’m still going through hundreds of photos I took plus what I’m getting from people we met and other team members. I’ll have them up soon. We’re still going through the money as well but it was an awesome amount.
it was nice finally formally meeting all of you. thanks for having me, i had a blast and hope to join in again. will be posting my own pics soon also. thanks guys.

We must form a “Performed on Rock Band and posses a Vigo painting” club.
I actually watched your vid to prepare myself Foom. For I am but a learner.
It was great finally meeting you Tatguy.
I have the majority of photos in now. We’ll have the total collected for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation soon.
Recap:
Friday started with the Zombie panel on the spread of zombies in pop culture. This was a packed panel with alot of great discussion on the zombie fad. My favorite question “who do the Ghostbusters call?” My response: The Monster Squad. Later in the afternoon was the first of our daily Zombie Brain Eating Contests. These were alot of fun and the 2nd year they were held. This time there was a kids round, a shooter round, and three adult rounds. People entered the adult round by winning some really hard zombie trivia. The brains are made from peach jello and condensed milk. Reviews on the flavor are mixed. At this we were the judges.
Friday evening was the Zombie Walk and Zombie Beauty Pageant. Both went great. We had a police ■■■■■■ for the zombie walk so were able to lead the walk with the Ecto running full lights and sirens. We handed out zombie survival pamphlets to passers-by with the zombies behind us.
Our video isn’t done yet so till then here’s one from the zombie defense team that showed up:
The pageant was awesome as well. We handed out twinkies and marshmallows during an intermission with the above mentioned GB theme sing along. We also acted as chaperones or wranglers for the contestants.
Here’s some vid from the Beauty Pageant:
Throughout the weekend we held our hourly raffles for various Ghostbusters prizes and had a basket for silent auction. We played GB tunes out the sound system we set up and had a TV with a slideshow and our various TV interviews and appearances playing. We handed out info pamphlets, posters, our sugar-free ghost candy, buttons, Cystic Fibrosis info, coloring sheets, sold Twinkies and Marshmallows for donations, and had people posing like crazy with Vigo. Through the weekend we held a Slime Scavenger Hunt for kids. At select booths we put slime in a petri dish and gave the kids clues. When they brought back a sample we gave them marshmallows and a raffle ticket.
Sunday morning we did a TV interview for our local Channel 3 and was able to keep the Ecto parked out front. We also held a Ghostbusters Trivia Contest Panel. We did several rounds for prizes and picked contestants by giving them the Zener ESP card test.
It was an awesome weekend and the con was much bigger than last year. Last year we had 5000 attendees. This year we had 15,000 attendees. We made alot of contacts and met the most kids we’ve ever seen in GB costumes. We can’t wait for next year.

I love how every one of the pictures I’m in I have a weird face. I guess I just make lots of faces!
It went great, I’m glad I was able to join up with you guys so now we have more girl 'busters.
We’re all guilty of it, just like how I realized I posted a pic or two twice in the same thread. Have to fix that.
